I'm sitting here watching Star Trek Voyager and all I want to do is cry, this isn't the first time but is happening more and more the longer I'm on HRT.  I know that women are more emotional than men, hell I use to cry when watching Little House but that was a drama but Star Trek?  When if ever will these emotional surges subside? ???

I've been on HRT 4 weeks now, and I still haven't experienced any of these random emotions.  Right now I'm just feeling like. . . perfect, but that's probably because I've been on HRT for four weeks, you seem like you've been on it longer.  Either way enjoy the emotions, and I'm sure they'll subside eventually.  Just right now it's bad probably.  I'm sure someone more experienced will answer soon.

Yeah, there are times when I don't mind but gets me one moment I'm crying and the next I'm laughing; I feel like I've lost my mind at times. :icon_confused2:

Erika, I'm so sorry to hear your going through that.  I'm not on HRT so I can't offer any real advise, but when I was younger and
had those roller coaster emotions I found that exercise really helped control the flow of emotions. Good luck.

Well, I am sorry to tell you that it never ends. You get used to it and better able to deal with it over time. I am a GG of 69 and I never noticed that sudden weeping slowing down until after menopause; way after menopause. So as long as you are taking a level of hormones about equal to a young woman you can expect to have the same emotional reactions. Sorry.

I do not know that women are more emotional than men I do know that it is considered more acceptable in society for women to express emotions. the surges are probably do to the hormones but look at the bright side this does show that you are begining to break the illisions of who you where forced to pretend to be so as annoying as it is enjoy the freedom that you are giving yourself.

COME ON DURING STAR TREK....lol.....I have been noticing a change in my emotions for a few months but it's mostly been during very emotional movies and such never just out of the blue. But within the past few weeks the inability to control them has been overwhelming and is afternoon I just had me a little crying session.  I've always have been an emotional person but like many boys it was instilled in me that boys don't let their emotions show.  It has been very tough to try to keep them from showing at times, but there were times when they would get through my little wall I had erected in heart.  If I just don't break down at work I think everything will be ok.

I cry all the time, although I was pretty emotional before, I'm even more emotional now. Eventually, you learn how to control them a bit -- your basically going through puberty again, think of yourself as a teenage girl... they are crazy and really emotional, but eventually they mature and eventually figure things out. But even mature gg's cry from time to time, I know I've seen it a lot. So, you're not weird, but it's a normal process that you are going through. Enjoy it. Cry.

Haha okay Star Trek is a little funny I will admit :)  People keep telling me it's only time until that happens. . . so we'll see what ridiculous thing I cry at when the time comes lol.  Hopefully Star Trek won't make you cry anymore after today Erika.  If you do just laugh it off and try to get a sense of humor out of it :P

Hello, Ericka,

Emotions are pretty strange things.  Ya never know when you'll feel them and why.

I have felt them in church when certain hymns were sung.  I feel them every time I see "It's A Wonderful Life," or see the future in the smile of a toddler.

I have been on HRT for five years and I was emotional before but I am more sensitive to things after, however, there is nothing that I would do to stop, reduce, hide, or kill any emotional responses that I might have.

There is one thing of which I am careful, and that is keeping my emotions and my intellect balanced.  I have gone into my office, closed the door, had a good cry, and answered the phone.  When I heard the phone ring, I worked really fast to regain my composure.

Give yourself time to settle things within yourself and if that doesn't work you might want to see someone for counseling.  What I have told you works for me.  I hope it helps you, too.

I cry a lot when I watch emotional films and for other reasons as well. But I was just the same emotionally in the past and still cried a lot long before I ever took HRT...

Hi ErickaM

Crying while watching Star Trek? Why not, especially if it's Star Trek Voyager with Captain Janeway and crew?  Those characters could make you laugh your backside off one moment then have you cry like a baby the next, at as little as the drop of a hat.

I also cry and laugh watching children's movies.  I have always loved childrens movies. I believe that some movies were designed to bring out emotions. Needles to say I am a fan of Star Trek Voyager ;D  I had the same reactions watching this series even before I started HRT. The feelings were always there, just that the feelings go deeper now.

I don't knock it.  Actually I love feeling emotions and now that I am post-op I will cry or laugh aywhere I please, it's a woman's prerogative and sometimes someone will even have the courtesy to offer me some Kleenex.  :D

I have also discovered that at a certain point, whether it be crying over something negative or something that hurts or for something good, something that tugs at your heart; when both emotions are at their most intense they are equal and it no longrer matters which it stems from. I find this a realy good time to pray or send positive intentions, whichever one might choose to call it, to send it and almost immediately you will feel a relief in your heart.

Hi saraswatidevi

"Wow!" are you really 69? In the pick you don't appear any older than in your thirties. I'm 62 and from some comments I had from others like even out new Physician here just about fell out of her seat when I told her my age. ;D Maybe the HRT reacts like the fountain of youth for some of us. Well I feel like I'm only 16 anyway and just as mischievous as a kid. I have a lot of fun bugging my soul mate and we do laugh a lot unless one of us is not well, that sucks.  :-\
Wonder how many old bats ther are around on this board anyway?  ;D

Hi Cindybc,

The picture is 6 years old but that is how I look today. It is all in the mind. I am also very mischievous. Maybe that is the trick.

Hi saraswatidevi
Well you really do look good and yes staying young at heart I believes goes a long ways in fending off getting old. When I leave here I wanna come sliding in sideways on my bicycle in a cloud of dust at St Peters gate holding a ghetto blaster on my right shoulder and a bottle of Canadian Club in the other and say, now that was soooooome ride, to St Peter.

Playing oldies Goldie's with volume cranked. ;D
