Doctor rant

I've had some issues with my endometreosios over the summer so I've been seeing my gyno very frequently since then. I'm almost five months on T so i figured I needed to tell him in case any tests came back wonky. Anywho, so on my second to last visit I told him I was trans and taking hormones and that I planned on fully transitioning. He said it didn't matter and he just wanted me to be happy and healthy. Wonderful, I thought. So my most recent visit he waited wil we were alone and gave me a little speech. A speech about Jesus and how maybe sure I know him but the devil knows Jesus too. He compared taking hormones to smoking or being an alcoholic and said if it gets out of hand he might need to fire me as his patient. I'm confused and upset. I thought I'd found an awesome doctor and then he hit me with that. So on top of feeling crummy now I need to find a new doctor. Again.
Rant over.

That is beyond horrible. Frankly, I think you should consider reporting him.

First pretends to be open-minded and then turns out to be completely narrow minded, but only wants to admit to this in private...? :P

Good luck finding a new doc, I´m sure there are better options than him around. Good riddance, I´d think.

An openly disgusted doctor would be better than that. This one acts in a way that suggests he knows what he said was inappropriate. You can't trust someone like that and you need to trust your doctor. My doctor told me, six months after I came out to him, that he had been dubious, but seeing me later and seeing how much more relaxed and happy I was he had come around. Him I can trust.
April 22, 2015, the day of my first face to face pass in gender neutral clothes and no makeup. It may be months to the next one, but I'm good with that!

Being transgender is just a phase. It hardly ever starts before conception and always ends promptly at death.

Wow, HE needs to be fired from his so called status.
I am male because I say so and nothing more.
I don't have to look or act like one therefore.

Time to demand a different doctor, I think.

If this becomes a thing, you can record the conversation on some kind of device. I'm pretty sure it is against "the rules" to proselytize at your patients.

I also wouldn't be trusting his medical advice if he lets Jesus make his diagnoses for him.

Tell him the American Medical Association and the World Health Organization says that Gender Dysphoria is a medical condition (not a mental health disorder), and requires medical treatment (which includes hormones for some).

Sorry this happened.  It must have felt like a bait and switch situation.

No more seeing that Doctor, that's for sure. It's upsetting people will say such things out of commitment to a religion. Hoping someone who's accepting and helpful will step up[emoji4]

"Fire you as a patient" ? Wow that upsets me for you..that doctor really sounds like an idiot. I say drop him fast!

I'm sorry for such a bad experience, you'll find the right doctor.

Wow. You should fire him as a doctor and the report him to whatever governing body he's credentialed through. If he has his own practice, I'd consider leaving a nasty Yelp/Facebook review so that others know he's a jerk.
