does anyone perhaps have any guess as to potential for getting anti-androgen without a therapist letter (I have an insurance issue that I won't belabor this post with)?  I am quite estrogen-rich, apparently, have manifested b-cup breasts, and budding hips, skin growing quite sensitive; I have never taken a thing, it's just me, but this (it's amazing what the brain, mind can do) area of change seems to be angrying up the male sex hormones, an causing some not insubstantial difficulties here.

Try talking to your doctor about having too much aggression because of the testosterone.  The worst they can do is say no.

Hello jan c,

It would be very difficult for anyone who doesn't know you to give you any advice on your question, as we have so little to go on.  You have to realise that Susan's is international with members from all over the world, so it would be really helpful if you would head over to the Introductions Forum and post an intro of yourself that would also include the country/state/province etc... where you reside :)

Chat later,

Steph

P.S.  In the mean time welcome to Susan's, there is a wonderful group of members here who are only too willing to help and support :)

thank you Steph, guiding me to intros. Did that.
Kind of a dead serious post, long history, to get as much out of the way as I could.

I dont know if it is the same in the US and Canada but here in Australia you need a referral by a doctor (GP) or a psychiatrist or psychologist in order to get to see an endo'. From there you can tell them your story but if they think for one second that you are TG then it is back to the psychiatrist for at least three months and then be seen by a further two psychiatrist before they even let you have hormones. If on the other hand you are just doing it to end your libido then you are able to go onto hormones without a psychiatrists report. It is a cruel world but thats the way it is. If you already have breasts and large hips, I would say that any endo would like you to explore that with a therapist first.

Maybe someone from the US and or Canada can give you some details as to what process happens in their Country.

I do not condone self help in any shape or form.

Sara.

I think the US is much less strict Sara, than other countries such as the UK or as it sounds Austrailia.  For one thing, you don't need to see 2 psychiatrists or even a GP first to get on hormones.  That's the way I did it, because I was wanting to follow the SOC as closely as possible and would have felt guilty  trying to circumvent it.  I could have gotten my hormones within 2 months from when I first met with my doctor if I wanted to, but I decided to the go to a gender specialized therapist and I actually got a second letter for hormones and used that.  I guess I'm just too good of a girl for my own good sometimes.

hi girls. Already have a rec to an endo, from my initlal intake with a therapist, to abtain the rec for insurance purposes (dont have a primary care physician, don't like going to doctors, got get over that one huh). Just wondering, have not ascertained from researching this, what the resistance to this might be. Not going for 'self-help' in that way, did consider, it, NG: don't work. I have a feeling this endo will see the mess I am, and help. Big step for me...

One thing I've found is that there is generally little resistance if you are, at least where am I with the people I deal with. Apparently I'm rather unmistakable (I was only being honest!) and have only encountered monetary issues as any resistance at all. For what that is worth however.
