What will you tell people about the scar who don't understand that you're trans? It makes me think that its an indicator for other transmen to find you out! Sorry if it was offensive. I guess people have them tattooed over?

I would tell them I had surgery and leave it at that. It's an incredibly rude question to ask a stranger, so I wouldn't dignify it with an answer.

I was told that it could not be tattooed over until at least a year after the surgery based on skin quality. And you would also need to have your surgeon map out on the arm where they have relocated nerve endings to. The nerves are going to be much closer to the surface than they would've been otherwise, and you could end up with neuropathy if the artist hits one.

:o Now that last sentence is scary, exactly what is neuropathy? I already have tourettes.

Neuropathy is where you brain misinterprets sensations and constantly sends pain signals. So while it may aesthetically be nice to not look at a big scar every day, you also run the risk of being constantly in pain. Personally, I don't want to risk it even after the healing is done. I will not be tattooing over it.

Good judgement on your part. Thanks for sharing that risk.

I'm not 100% sure but I think Balian Buschbaum wears one those stretchy sweatband thingies on his arm to cover the donor site. Of course, I'm not even sure if he's had phalloplasty but I saw him in one tv show and he was wearing that so I figured that would be the reason for it.

I'm actually wearing one of those all the time now as weather gets better. Hair removal works best on pale skin/dark hair, so I'm doing everything I can to keep my arm from tanning. I know a lot of guys who wear one post-op because the compression feels good.

I didn't know who he was before. I googled him. He's nice looking and who would have pictured him being a woman?
