Hi I have a plan... I had been thinking for a while about starting up a non-binary meetup in Manchester until I found out there already was one! So then I thought as Manchester probably doesn't need 2, I would instead really like to organise a series of creative workshops for non-binary/GQ people - things like creative writing, psychodrama, conscious dance, photography etc... with a focus on telling our stories. I think this is really important with the huge level of erasure non-binary/gq people have to deal with. The ideal would be for them to be free and as accessible as possible.
I have a meeting next month with a local charity who I know have funds set aside for trans stuff and would like to get some funding from them - they already do some stuff for the trans community but I feel there is a real need for a separate nonbinary/gq space and events too.
To that end, I am asking here for quotes or experiences about accessing trans spaces or services as a nonbinary person, or your experiences about trying to find community or have your narrative recognised. These quotes would be anonymised as much as you ask, and would be part of my plan of action I would present to my local charity when asking for funding.
And if you have any general advice or suggestions about this project I welcome it as I have never done anything like this before and there are probably loads and loads of factors I have overlooked!
