hi people :)
so glad to have found this site, I spent days reading through stuff, it's so great to see how others have put into words thoughts I've had my whole life! :)

I spent most of my adult life in a skirt, helped raise 6 kids, did music, but lost myself about 15 years ago. I rediscovered myself this year, and have never been happier!
I've just got my letter to start HRT, and I'm waiting on my name change and gender change (we can do that here in Quebec!) to take effect, should be about 90 days, and well, I just wanted to say hi!

I came out to my parents, thinking it would be a no-brainer (as I had lived and dressed as a woman for years) but somehow they were still shocked :P however, they are both supportive and happy for me. I also just came out on facebook, but that seemed silly, as I've never kept it a secret, but hey, some people are slow lol.

I used to do scary music, and have started up my career again (still finding my voice) and look forward to sharing :)

just wanted to say I'm trans and I'm proud!
and I'm happy to find this site :D

and today was equally great for me! finally got an appointment with an endocrinologist (I've been trying for 5 months now, they keep saying "call back next month" and when I do they say they are booked up again :P ) and the response to my coming out post on facebook has made me cry several times it's been so wonderful!
everything is great! I accepted who I was, and now my family and friends have as well, with HUGE support! :)

and hi to my fellow canuks! I feel lucky to be in Canada (and super lucky to live in Montreal!) I think transgendered folks have it ok here. still a way to go, but pretty good :)
cheers!

Hi from the west coast, actually the Island! Glad to see you are on your journey! HRT is quite the ride. Can be sort of a roller coaster, but well worth it. You are sure right about being lucky to live in a country like Canada!

TG CLare

Welcome to Susan's Place, Candi!!

I too am from the Great White North and you'll find many interesting people on here.

You have an advantage over some of us as you have Dr. Brassard's clinic in your home town! Well, that is if you ever decide to have any major surgery!

Have fun and enjoy yourself.

Love,
Clare

Thanks TG CLare!
not 100% on the surgery at this point, but there is an information clinic here  Nov 30th at ASTTeQ that I'm going to... keeping all options open :)

going 24/7 has been a huge improvement in my life, I know HRT is gonna be even better for me. it's all evolving and growing and with every step I feel better, also thinking about stuff I've never really thought about before. :)

Hi Candi,

A big Aussie welcome to Susan's family. It's good of you to drop in and say "Hi". Hope you like it here, and you stay for a while.

There is a mountain of information, resources and friendship waiting for you here, you just need to jump in start talking and ask any question you like. You're quite safe here and we are very accepting.

Sounds like you've got it all together. Big congratulations, keep up the awesome work.

Looking forward to hearing more of your story in time to come, but in the meantime, be safe, well and happy.

Speak to you as soon as I rake the leaves.

Lotsa huggs
Catherine

Hi there - I happen to be visiting Montreal from the UK, getting to 'test drive' my new passport, that and getting my driver's licence with an appropriate gender marker were very affirmative steps on my journey....!!  So, if my experience is anything to go by, I know how excited you might be feeling about getting your documentary 'ducks' aligned!!  With best wishes for when the official notifications arrive in the mail!!  K xx

thanks Kirsty48! congratulations on your test drive, glad it worked out as planned!

yes, I'm really looking forward to it ALL! some of my friends were reluctant to use my new name, but they have been coming around, one of my band mates now calls me Candi, even my family (who have been supportive but shocked) are starting to use Candice! :)

hope you enjoy Montreal, it's really a great city! I moved here from Toronto in '99 and never looked back, it has so much to offer! :)

and if you want to hang out with other trans folk while you are here, monday nights there is a trans support group at ASTT(e)Q on Ste-Catherine at 7 pm. most are French speaking, but I get by ;)

Hi Candy

Thank you....!!  Sorry I did not get to see your post until I got back after a great day meandering around the St Catherine's, in and out of the malls....  Will see if I can make my schedule work out for - oh it is now - this evening at the address on the ASTT(e)Q website?  I speak la langue after a fashion, better after one glass of wine and Quebecoise after two.... LOL

Winning people over to using the name that you have chosen for yourself is very empowering.... My own family, friends and colleagues have all been good about calling me Kirsty.... have been lucky in so many ways....

As for international travel.... I am getting much better in situations where there is, literally, no escaping like being on an aeroplane!!  Got to the point where if I can feel sufficiently confident and assured on the inside, it comes through on the outside.... smiling helps a lot too and I have even more reason to smile, having made it across the Atlantic.... my next 'trial' is the return flight after a full working day and managing some 'practicalities' so that I look presentable (well as good as anyone stepping off an overnight plane trip can) when I arrive back in London!! K xx

and nice to meet you Kirsty48 :)
it's such fun to meet people in real life who you've only known on the interwebz. hope you enjoyed the group, we're a pretty relaxed bunch, and varied lol glad you made it out, and best wishes for the rest of your trip :)
I made it back home without incident, and I'm just adding another track to the tune I started recording earlier.
have a safe and happy trip home!
