Just to better understand a lip lift itself.....it seems to lift the lip up closer to the nose so your front teeth show more.

Does this cause the vermilion of the upper lip to show more at all? Or is that only done by adding fat or dermal to the vermilion itself?

Anecdotally, more of my vermillion shows after lip reduction than did before.

Likewise ..  :)  but don't get fat in the area above the vermillion like I had done = disaster ... >:(

See my thread on the subject: https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,200643.0.html

Yeah I have kept up on your thread. I read Dr O's book though and he talks about taking the dermal layer of some of the scalp removed from scalp advancement and stringing that thru the vermilion instead of using fat.

Is that what you had done? or was it actual fat injections?

Ok interesting so it's not just decreasing the height between nose and lip. Is that a side effect then? To have more vermilion show more?

I guess it depends from person to person but generally, yes, more of the vermilion is suppose to show. Oftentimes the best approach is to combine a lip lift with fat transfer or other fillers to the lips. In some cases though, like in Paula's, a fat transfer might not be so advisable.

Personally, I had a lip lift with my full ffs and fat transfers to the lips a few months later. I recommend it. Lately I've been on Alexandra's virtual ffs site and the 1/3 upper lip to 2/3rds chin ratio is important to ffs. In my case though, that's not possible, too much teeth showing so an aggressive lip lift is not possible. It's a masculine feature I may always have to live with and I'm okay with that :)

Hiya Debra ...  :)

Dr Zukowski performed fat injections to my top lip during the original FFS in Feb 2004 and when I went back to the USA in the summer of 2005 for a check-up with him, he said that I needed another top-up which has proved to be a huge mistake as you all know.

The next day I travelled up to Toronto for my second round of hairgrafting with Dr Paul Cotterill ( who has done a fantastic job on me and is actually the best part of my whole transition ) and when I look at fotos that my friend took a week later, my top lip was still hugely swollen and does not look right to this very day.

G'rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!!
