It's been a really long time since I posted on here n a lot of y'all know I had trouble starting hormones n actually began taking herbal but I'm finally starting the real stuff in 3 weeks. Anyway I'm wondering... If u hav some breast tissue before hormones does that help breast development after?

Taking "herbals" is not a good idea and can be quite dangerous at worst. I have heard many with gynecomastia report better than average results from hormone therapy.

Which part of that exactly do you disagree with? Do you disagree with being thorough? Using careful observation? Being systematic? Or using consistent logic?" --Dr. Steven Novella

I think there is a nice discussion here. I can tell you about my experience:

- Prior to any HRT I always have been prone to get fat on chest. I always had a certain degree of pseudogynecomastia (it was just fat) even while being slim.

- Being only on T-Blockers I developed real breast tissue and had moderate to severe chest soreness. It was painful and all but the boobs weren't bigger nor full developed.

- After being like 2+ years on full HRT (T-Blocker + E high dose) breast growth stopped almost completely.

- Now I have been like 6+ years on full HRT and they only get bigger when I gain weight. But when I gain weight they don't look good (it looks like I'm fatty not like I have just big boobs).

Currently I'm almost 5'7'' at 125 lbs and they are small B cups. I'm US size 4 and clothes fit me but the boobs are not flashy and I don't have cleavage. I think I'm fairly near the average so I can't complain about HRT but I'm having breast augmentation anyway.

I'd think that it's more genetics. Perhaps having the tendency to gravitate towards breast fat, may be an indication of your body's natual ability to utilize Estrogen and develop larger than average breasts. And then again, there are many different breast compositions... some are fattier than others.

I still have a super high metabolism, so fatty tissue isn't easy to accumulate; making it difficult to test that theory.

We r the same height n weight Wednesday ha. So if it's all part of genetics... does that mean you will be a b cup if every woman in your family is a b cup?

They say subtract 1 cup size from your closest relative would be a good guess.

Here were some hints concerning growth:
https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,199480.msg1774230.html#msg1774230

Concerning herbals...
its possible they compete with estrogen for estro receptors, making for a weaker effect.
So phytoestrogen while on hrt might not be a very good idea.
Normal amounts should be ok, like in some soy products.
There are other herbs which contain other products than phytoestrogens... it might be different there...

Quite a few people take additionally to (imo if possible bioidentical) estro bioiddentical progesterone.
It might help with breast growth, with the development of ducts etc.
Many people say they have a more round form insted of a conical one.
It also has some anti androgen effects, by preventing conversion of dht, and it might help with mood and counter some side effects of estrogen.
Some people cycle, in 10 or 14 days, some take it continously.
Its also available as implants, preferably with intramuscular application to avoid extrusion.

I've heard of that, but if your young (I'm 21) and since it's not bone shouldn't it grow like it would if you was born female?

This is not exact...
there are many people who differ, who have more than relatives...
I'd say stay positive  :)

It did for me, anyway; I definitely had a jump-start on growth because I had gynecomastia (true breast tissue) beforehand.

As for final size, I do think it's genetic but that the "one cup size smaller" thing is a myth. (Or possibly a misunderstanding of how bras work - a 38B is the same cup volume/cup size as a 36C, so a trans woman with a slightly larger rib cage than her cis sisters will sound and/or look like she has a smaller cup size even though it's roughly the same.) The tricky part is that, just like for cis girls, there's no way of telling *whose* genes you got. My mother is a 34B; my sister and I take after a busty grandmother, with a similar curvy body type. Sister is 36D while I'm 38DD.
