For anyone who want to get surgery in Thailand

Hi I found some interesting info from Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of Thailand's website which I think it will be useful for people who looking to get surgery in Thailand, either how could we know if the surgeon is trustworthy, or what should you aware of, how each surgery work and technique not just srs, but all plastic surgery. I find that there are more information published in Thai language than English. Even though the Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of Thailand's website itself have little information publish in English compare to what they published in Thai. So I will just translate one by one here then.

What do THSAPS do

Beside providing surgeries and registered surgeons information, people also send complain about surgery problem, which THSAPS will provide related medical information related to problem before present to Medical Council of Thailand.

Some interesting facts they gave

• Most people do not know that it is legal for an MD to do all kinds of surgery.


• Most people misunderstand that advertising cosmetic services are always run by plastic surgeons.


• Most good surgeons do not advertise!


• Non-plastic surgeons outnumber true plastic surgeons.

Warning they gave on their website

For non-Thai citizens, we recommend you study more or contact us before having a cosmetic surgery. Currently there are some groups of physicians who do not have proper training but form organizations with names that sound similar to us. Many of them have been practicing for long period of time and so well known that people forget they are not board-certified plastic surgeons.

What should be careful when you decide to get surgery. (This I translate from what they have in Thai)

• Get surgery for beauty from your own needs, do not do it because of it's cheap or someone ask you to do, or some agent ask you to, or BOYFRIEND!


• Don't believe things too easy, like some website that say that this surgeons is good or that surgeon is good. Mostly is manipulating.


• Don't believe or do surgery with fake plastic surgeons or beauty guru.


• Don't think that plastic surgery will make every things perfect like nose is 100% straight or eyes are exactly 100% the same for both side or no scar at all.


• There are no new and special technique. Do not believe the advertise that this surgeon have special technique or no other surgeons do it, or the technique have no bad side.


• If you find surgeon that ask you to get a plastic surgery, you should think about it twice.


• The more expensive technique or more expensive material does not always better, you may be fool by the price marketing.


• There are doctor in other field that did not train on "plastic and reconstructive surgery". But it have similar name like facial constructive surgery, it is not plastic surgery.

THSAPS also have a very good article about "How to choose surgeon" too, it's in Thai and it's the whole page. I will take time translate it and put it here soon ok. I will try to make sure the translate is right.
