A recommended "best practice" when evaluating a surgeon is to go to  www.certificationmatters.org.

sign up (free)  and put in the doctor's name and see   1) if the doctor is in fact board certified by one of the *real* (as opposed to "vanity")  medical certification boards that are recognized  by the American Board of Medical Specialties;  and then 2) determine if the specific medical specialty is appropriate for your kind of surgery.   In this case, that would likely either be a board certified plastic surgeon or for SRS a board certified urologist.

Keep in mind -  this is the screening test.   If you find they do meet the requirements described above, then you still need some further investigation.   Being board certified is the minimum threshold.  After that, you need to further figure out if the surgeon is well trained and experienced in your specific area of concern.

Many doctors who's names periodically show up in these kinds of discussions do not meet the two simple requirements described above.  When I just checked,  Dr. Leis did not show up as being board certified by one of the "recognized" medical speciality boards.

There are a large number of "pseudo" "board" certifications or  "vanity" boards.  They are all marketing devices.
And be very cautious about surgeons claiming they are "double board certified" or  "triple board certified".  In every case I have seen,  that turns out to be deceptive, as,  AT MOST,  only one of those board certifications is "real".  The others are vanity board certifications.
