Starting transition 21 years ago, I have been under the knife many times. On both my face and my body. In all surgeries I have ever had this has been the most displeasing. Not only the result, but the doctor and his staff.
I went to see Dr. Spiegel 3 weeks ago about being unhappy with the outcome of his surgery. He came in the room with 2 of his resident students. A room roughly 6x8 the 4 of us met. He quickly looked me over, and abruptly cut me off and stated I am still healing, even at 9 1/2 months.
I asked him about these two dents on either side of my chin, that I didn't have before nor do I like. They make it look very sharp and the chin come to this little point. This is my biggest concern, as it really doesn't look good.
He said he could fill them with a fat graft in the office, and Katie his office assistant would be in shortly to set something up, and rushed out of the room. I took it that he didn't want me questioning his surgery in front of his students.
A few minutes later Katie walked in and handed me an estimate of $3500 for a fat transfer. I said what! I told her I thought revisions were something covered. I was astounded. It has nothing to do with the money, and everything to do with that this showed me he could truly care less and yet this was someone I trusted to work on my face.
She told me she would speak with him and email or call me, 3 weeks have gone by and I have yet to hear a word.
The attitude I got from the doctor and his staff were that they were paid, and best of luck to me. So the free revision thing he states, someone must really have to put up a stink. This has left me with a total distaste, I wouldn't go back there if got new Mercedes along with allowing him to touch my face.
Yes I could put up a stink and get him to revise it, but do I truly want someone touching my face that couldn't care less, I will go elsewhere.
I am off to seeking a Maxillofacial surgeon skilled in revision work. I will pay the extra money, I want someone who really cares about his patients and the outcome of his surgery.
My profile photo is pre-op btw, someone asked if this was my post result.
