Heyas, i was just wondering if its normal or acceptable to gender specialists.

I want to work on my exterior appearance aka feminize myself, i accept the fact i will grow breast etc and am looking forward to it

My main question is will i be denied hrt if i tell them i do not plan on fully coming out and living full time as a woman?

I am scheduled with a psychiatrist for the 28th, and after reading

http://www.albertatrans.org/transition.html

I get the impression i will have to see my psychatrist, get a referral letter then see a gender specialist and then finally an endocrinologist.

My wife understands my need to transition and is supportive we plan to remain married and our children will be brought up to accept peoples differences.

My wife also has needs as she didnt sign up to marry a woman which i fully understand, i dont intend on have SRS as well i love that part of my body possibly more than she does haha.

I know i should be wholly truthful with my therapists but at the same time i dont want to be held back because i dont wish to make a 100% transition, more like 75% the remaining % being the dressing out in public and my wifes family functions.

Does anyone have any experience with a partial transition and able to give me some tips?

Many people do this, but as to how willing the medical and psychiatric profession are to support you may come down to their personal bias and ignorance. You may need to shop around!

I have been on HRt for maybe 12 years and have not been able to transition because of job.  My wife is very accepting.  I have also had all facial hair removed.  I have a B breast and wear loose shirts.  I had no problems with getting prescriptions for it.  Passing one way or the other is all attitude.
Now the sex thing may be another story.  You may find that your testosterone levels decrease, your ability for penetrative sex will probably decrease.  While I read anecdotal stories of maintaining sexual prowess on Susans, my experience in transgender groups is that it almost always disappears.  Especially over time.

I do not think it is uncommon.  My therapist and I discussed surgeries and I told her that I was not sure, yet she still offered a referral for HRT.  I have met more than a few sisters that have elected HRT without solidifying their "gender" into the binary.

Hi Shandril
I know of three people that are in my organization that have gone all the way and have decided not to have SRS
as far as i know that is a decision that only you can make. My self I did Fully transition and I'm very happy but it is not necessary. As for you being able to have penetrative sex with your wife if you are on full hormones that may be impossible as nothing will work down below eventually.

Best of luck

Thats ok theres tons of toys available as far as penetrative sex is concerned, is it still possible to ejaculate though for me?

I cannot speak to the medical protocols / gatekeeping you may have to deal with in Canada. I can tell you I'm 7 years on HRT, have a B cup and still live and present primarily as male for several reasons necessitating me to. As you are seeing, it is not uncommon. You may want to inquire about Low Dose HRT. Enough to keep the noise down in your head and (hopefully) not enough to cause much feminization. Over the decades I relied on low dose HRT for it's much need Brain Reset. When things below the belt started to take a hit was what necessitated me stopping it.

Less likely once you are on anti androgens and estrogen for any length of time.

Does sexual activity play a part? Just curious as i onow alot of people go somewhat dormant while transitioning or are faced with the challenge of doing it alone.

Just another of a zillion questions i have lol

Went dormant in the 90's for a long while.  Once I became active again, had trouble taking on a dominant role with GF's.  We would both be thinking the other would take the lead...just norm for me.  Went "dark" in the beginning of the year as the dysphoria nailed me pretty hard and sex is just too much right now.

Have had enough people tell me to not worry about it as it will enter the picture when it is supposed to.

I am planning to only do HRT but not bottom surgery. If it comes up with my therapist ill try to tell her that its part of the plan to go with it.   I dont want to tell her what she wants to hear. But I'll say what I need to to get better

Im kind of in the same boat lillian, except ive kind of got a moral code which requires me not to lie.

In my first session ill flirt with it and ask her opinion on it. Its a no go for my wife and really for myself as a husband i cannot afford to completely alienate my wife shes been great to me.

I will let you know what she says, personally i dont think it should be an issue as i really dont want to go under the knife heck i can barely stand needles!
