I was wondering If anyone has had Dr Bowers do their trach shave? I am thinking about having it done when I have my SRS but I haven't heard much about Dr Bowers doing them.

If you are considering voice surgery with Dr Haben, you should wait and have it done there. The important thing is that the surgeon is careful not to remove to much. It's better to have a little bump than a lower voice. I went to a reconstructive plastic surgeon for mine and he was very careful not to weaken the larynx by removing to much material.

Yes I had Dr. Bowers do my trach shave when she did my GCS. It went pretty well and I didn't have any voice issues so that was good.

The only thing I've noticed is that a year or two later after I'd lost about 20-25 lbs, I noticed you can see my adams apple once again....whereas you couldn't after surgery when I was a little heavier. Not sure if that's something a more FFS-oriented surgeon could fix or have done better or if there was just only so much that could be done. Definitely didn't want to take a chance on screwing up my vocal cords either but yeah.
