Swallowing a grenade.
you crack me up.  I can barely open my mouth enough to fit a boiled egg in it.

it's not fear.  It's greed as is everything that motivates americans.  the american ideal of a romantic way to die is to die while searching for gold.
A most cynical and uncharacteristic response.
sorry, sometimes I hit too many news sites.

Gold can be anything, though. for some, it's nirvana or world peace, for others, it's children.

Donating an vital organ to your lover, which lets them live, though you die of complications.

Go to the supermarket and buy some cucumbers.
Practice:-P

On second thought... maybe simply chugging some clorox, followed by a bit of windex would be kewl.

Or... a 32 ounce coke followed by an alcacelcer plus.  :-)

Can you tell us why those methods of dying are romantic?  It seems they are not only painful, but lonely & messy deaths.

If dieing alone is romantic, I'd rather just do it out on a sailboat out in the middle of the ocean with no food, but plenty of fresh water.  If I was lucky, I'd either die in a sunrise or in a beautiful sunset.  Even a nice calm sunny day would be good.

I want to be shot when I'm 110 years old by a jealous wife.

For me, the most romantic way to die, is to literally die from a broken heart.  I have never been in love, so to love someone totally and completely, and for them to break my heart, would be romantic and tragic at the same time! Then I would know I was truly in love!  I want to know a love like that!  ;D

Oh no!  Wish for love... but not for heartbreak!  That does feel like you are going to die.  And it is not fun, romantic, or anything but pure tragedy.  I have experienced great heartbreak in my life.  I've also had great love.  Fortunately, I've survived them all. ;)

Remember that to have love, you must first love.  Friends come first though. If you don't have a best friend, you'd better take care of that.

I am dying of a broken heart. You never want to be that much in love, that their death can kill you. :'(

I'm so sorry Nero to hear your heart is broken, your loved one must have been the most special person in the world to feel as you do.  I read an earlier post of yours and I wasn't too sure what had happened, but now I understand.  The pain must be excruciating and I hope you can heal, even though I suspect it will never mend completely.  :(  But yes Nero, I want to love like that. :)

take care,

After so much silliness on the first page, I was sad to be more or less beaten on page 2.

I was going to say "dying in the defense of a loved one." I think the organ part really elevates it. A part of you keeps them alive.

Irony points if it's a heart transplant.

The most romantic way to die is leading a group of people through war torn territory and then getting them safely to the coast.  You put them on a boat and you go back to blow up the bridge so the soldiers will be stopped long enough for the boat to get beyond the range of their bullets.
The explosives don't work properly, so you have to drag a big machine gun up a hill and fire for a minute or two to scatter the enemy.  Then you run over to the bridge and manually set off the charges which messes you up severely.  You are knocked unconscious for possible a few minutes and then you come to.
You see the people you struggle to save off in the distance where they are safely on their way to a waiting ship.

Your mission is accomplished.  You have blood running all over you and your spine hurts and your legs are numb. You lose consciousness and pass away.

And the doc walks in and says, "sorry.  The explosion blew off your penis."

And you go, "wait, me wee-wee's gone?  HOORAY!"

Are we really here to glamourize the act of dying or death?

Death is death, a ceaseation of being.

Sometimes to be longed for, but never an act of romance.

Tis the wind and nothing more!;  Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore!!"

Yes, however, if you happen to die at the right moment and under the right circumstances, you can have a seriously meaningful feeling of self fulfillment as you go out.

In theory.

No.
The most romantic way a penis can do is being bitten off by one of those japanese demon mistresses.  Ya know, all hawt and stuff cept as soon as you stick it in it turns into a mouth with jagged teeth.

Somewhere in my fantasy world, Lory is with her Prince where he is being forced to jump off a bridge to his death in exchange for her life
Quote
..."No, please leave do not look at me like this! I told you when I met you that I would never leave you, we have fought through worse problems than this. I love you I cannot live without you. Yes you can, I will always be with you. It is time for me to go, please leave, this is my sacrifice for you to show my love."

Lory is completely torn up she cannot bear to see the love of her life lose his life for her. "If you jump you will kill me also, you are my life " Lory jumps to his arms and embraces her Prince with the most passionate kiss they have ever had. Just as she does the bridge crumples Lory and her Prince fall while embracing each other so passionately that the fact they are falling does not disturb them.
