I have been shaving every 10 day for like 3 time now but it looks like more are adding each time. It doesnt itch and doesnt hurt it is just ugly... i dont want my legs to look like that this summer?  What to do?  laser?

I can think of two possible problems. If you are using a shaving cream or skin treatment, you might be having a reaction to it. One of our sales men tried a new shaving cream on a sale trip and broke out in a rash that took a couple of weeks to clear up from. He looked unshaven for the remainder of the sale trip and for a couple of weeks around the office.

The other possibility is you are shaving to close. You might be better off with an electric razor as they tend not to cut as close. If you use a blade, make only one pass and use very light pressure. Forcing the blade down will cause irritation.

If you can afford it, Laser would be the way to go. I often though of electro on my legs but the hair growth has slowed so much, I don't figure it's worth it anymore. I just use a little bar soap and a mostly dull razor and it looks good for over a week.

Last summer i shaved once and had similar issue , it was a different shaving cream then the one i am currently using (the one i currently use is for sensible skin Satin Care brand).  I apply very light pressure too.. so i dont know really. It looks like it creates a red dot at almost each hair follicle base  until the hair eventually find its way out through the skin

That may be what's causing you to break out

Satin Care Sensitive Skin shave gel with Aloe Vera

It was Aloe Vera that cause the sales man to break out as well. It's a plant that was used to treat burn victims but some people react very badly to it. I would suggest you use a shaving cream without anything special added or try an electric.

It could be a skin reaction. Try to change your routine and see if that makes a difference.

This is exactly what i am using   Satin Care Sensitive Skin shave gel with Aloe Vera
What i find weird however is i have no reaction anywhere else..   I might try my electric razor  seems a good idea

Isn't Google great?  ;D
The skin on your legs may be more sensitive having never seen a blade before or the hair density might be higher that the other places. In any case, even if you end up using bar soap, I suggest you get away from Aloe Vera for a month or so and see if it helps clear up the issue. If not, consider an electric razor. They don't cut as close but they also irritate less.

I just use Ivory bar soap and a razor. I get the red around the follicles , but it goes away in a couple of hours. I've been on HRT for two years and I only have to shave every 6 months or so.

I will try it .  Thank you.

I have another question.   How much HRT affects leg hairs?

I am worried that they would stay to dense and just turn blonde making it impossible for laser.

(I was typing this when you replied haha i guess it awnser my question, laser might not be required)

I have been shaving my legs for years and initially i had shaving rash. A good razor, exfoliating, post-shave oils and creams and other strategies including a general desensitizing of my skin brought on by consistent shaving seemed to make it go away. I also found that using an epillator occasionally helped.

Then when i went on HRT, my skin seemed to soften a bit and irritation came back. . I went back to a more careful strategy, and began to get brazilian waxes for my bikini area and now i am fine again. I think yours will likely improve too.

Hormones in general have thinned my leg hair and made it grow much, much slower. I literally could get away with shaving every 10-14 days if i wanted to. I currently shave about every 7-10 days.

Feminization is high maintenance but so worth it :)

I waxed my legs regularly with GiGi bikini wax and after awhile the leg hair just didn't grow back anymore

Now I just use it for my armpits and bikini line

My legs are still ugly though, varicose veins run in my family  :P

I second waxing. Much smoother, much longer... it's only a day or 2 of redness then your silky smooth. If you insist on shaving, ALBA Botanica cream shave works really well. I even use it to shave my face and it works amazingly well.

It may be something called KP

I have it, and have found ways to combat the stuff, do you have any on your upper arms?

upper legs and arms are the most common place for it

its more common in females, too! ;)

its called keratin pillaris ?  and is caused by the excess keratin forming in the follicle causing a hard plug in it

I never noticed it until I started shaving my whole body, I found that shaving aggravated it it as well as smelly lotions and most creams. Its like shaving the peaks off of little mountains and just gets worse. I tried several products and settled on 2 things that someone on the web suggested

I only wash with Dove Sensitive Skin Nourishing Body Wash (this stuff feels amazing) and I use Amlactin Lotion with the green label, this is a exfoliating lotion and has cleared my KP up in about a month. These 2 products have made my skin super soft and great feeling to the touch. I dont use anything else as much as I love smellies in lotion form, I must resist :-\

the Amlactin smells kinda bad, so I use it first thing in the morning and let it soak in for a hour or so before showering. I used to put it on after, but I could smell it all day and its odd. Bottle says twice a day, which I did for the first 2 weeks, now Im once a day. Its expensive at 15 USD a bottle. Then every couple days I exfoliate with a loofah. Ive started amlactin on my face for the last week and my god, my face is so clear and smooth as well

I have another question.   How much HRT affects leg hairs?

A great deal!  I had some Harry McHairy legs and would shave once and get bumps worse than your pics.  I get laser on my legs now, but before that, I almost literally attacked my legs with the razor in the shower (no cream/soap etc) and they were bumpless.

This wasn't conditioning the skin due to frequent shaving either, as I'm lazy and especially since I'm single and have to wear pants to work, I could go for weeks sometimes (don't judge me!) before I shaved and the skin felt/looked/stayed perfect with no bumps.

The coarser a hair, the more irritation it can cause when shaved.  I think it's why black men are the most prone to razor bumps on their face... their hair is curlier and coarser than other races.  Some hair like chest, stomach, back go from terminal to vellus and get so small they're just lil' downy sprouts, but leg hair stays with you... I'm sure you're aware this is a cis-female problem too.  But they do indeed get more "vellusy" on HRT.  With laser, they're just an afterthought.

So, like a lot of things with your journey, be patient and it'll get better!
