Hair Transplant

Hi there

Has anyone here had a hair transplant? I currently wear a wig and want to fill in the corners to give me a better hairline. However as my hair underneath isn't long enough, it is likely that after the procedure I would continue to wear a wig. Is this possible? I would imagine you'd need to keep your hairline free from any coverings in order for the new hair site to recover, just common sense. However I thought I'd ask before in case others have been in my position and have managed to do this.

I am having FFS in several months and want to combine it with a hair transplant at the same time. If it's feasible got me to and continue to wear a wig after, then I will. I was thinking that maybe I'd have to wait a couple of weeks before wearing a wig and in that meanwhile use a headscarf. Is that doable?

I imagine you wouldn't be able to wear anything on your head for a few days at least. You'd really need to discuss those details with the surgeon.

Ms. Grace is right, I had that done November 12, I did a whole post on the experience, I'll link to it in a minute. The first few days it's not possible to wear a wig, I ended up wearing the bandana they gave me for the first 3 days (washed it in the sink every evening) I waited 7 days before I wore a wig, otherwise I wore loose fitting hats. I wear one of those nylon caps under my wig to keep all my natural hair in check and that did irritate my transplants but after the new hairs shed there wasn't any problem at all. Ive heard it takes 4 to 6 months for all the transplant hairs to start growing, I'm only on month 1.5

The Following bit is from the 6-page post-op care instructions, specifically right after surgery. It says nothing about wigs but they did tell me I should only wear loose-fitting hats the first 10 days (this stuff may be different depending on your doctor and/or procedure) but these were the only other restrictions:

• For the first night, sleep with your head elevated on several pillows or in a recliner chair to
prevent swelling, and place a towel under your head for possible light bleeding.

• Avoid any strenuous physical activity the first two days after your procedure to prevent increased swelling and loss or damage of grafts. After five days, you may resume moderate exercise, weight lifting, etc. After 10 days, you may resume swimming.

• No direct sun exposure to the scalp for more than 30 minutes at a time for the first five days. Wearing a hat provides adequate protection.

Hi!!

I had a hair transplant - 3000 grafts to cover my FFS scar and to fill in the temple area.....

If the are doing brow bossing, I don't beleive they can do the two togather.  That big scar has to heal for a while.

Great, thank you for your reply. I shall be getting my hair done at the same time as FFS jaw and chin contouring then Hopefully going to FacialTeam for this. The hair transplant is about 6500 euros which seems very expensive to me. Has anyone here had it done cheaper?

Yeah they seem to charge a lot for it   What is it supposed to cost?

I had costs of 12.000€ but it depends on the number of grafts. Six months later I had FFS with Facial Team (I am very happy witn the result).

You have to wear a compression mask after surgery (it depends what is done). You will not look great the week after surgery but you will look fantastic three months later. But the hair needs time to grow.
