Hi,

I am in my early 40's and have male pattern balding. About two inches at the temples and may be an inch in the middle. The rest of my hair is good and thick, although starting to thin a little on the crown. I am hoping to start hormones soon and finastreside (sp?) too.

Basically I am planning on hair transplants at the front to fill in the large gaps. I also plan on FFS, and I am aware of the impact this can have, but I am thinking I still need a bigger fill in job before FFS.

My problem is finding a recommendation in the UK or Europe for a surgeon. Can anyone help?

Obviously also any suitable experiences or thoughts also welcomed.

Oh, I am totally new to the group, but think it is great. Hope I can help others too soon.

I was in a very similar situation two years ago than you now. I decided to go for Dr. Mwamba in Brussels and he did a great job. I paid 12.000Euro to fill  the temples and lower the hairline a little bit.

Half an year I had full FFS with facial team including a hairline advancement by 2.5cm. This combination created a nice female hairline for me. I had chosen FUE for the hair transplants so each single follicle was taken out separately without any noticeable scar. There the hairline advancement was no problem.

Each step alone have not been enough to solve my problem. My advantage is that I still have some regrowth on front because the hair follicles there have not been "dead" for a long time. The disadvantage is the is a barely visible scar on front of my hairline. But it seems next summer it will be nearly invisible.

You can see my hairline in my avatar picture.

I had my rhinoplasty done in Poland at a very popular clinic in Wroclaw by a great surgeon who was trained in the UK and is on the UK GMC register. They also do hair transplants for a fraction of the price here in the UK and other European countries. Dr Kalecinski of Europe Surgery otherwise know as NOA clinic. Flights are cheap and they have a Facebook page where you can speak to other people who have had the procedure. If you want to know more you can pm me :) xoxox

I came to the London for my hair transplant. I did it to cover the mild scatr created by hairline lowering. I had it fone with a great medical practice called Ziering Medical. They.are very professional and transgender friendly, and their results are awsome!!

P.s. I would advise you to do hair transplant AFTER ffs so as to hit 2 birds with a stone. That is if you are considering gorehead work/ hairline lowering. There will be a tiny scar to hide.

Hi, hope it is not a personal question, but why have hairline lowering, why not just use the transplant to lower the hairline?

Thanks so much for the other responses, is a big help.

When you do transplant on the scalp (head skin) it's different than grafting hair on forehead skin. The latter does not produce natural results as hairs will be grated on a vertical space (forehead) whereas hairline lowering is about shaving part of the forehead to make it smaller. I hope this makes sense!

Oh, thanks so much, I obviously need to do more research. Got a Skype booked with facial team and planning some others too, Dr Bart I think, then no other ideas yet.

I saw hair transplant as an easy starting point, but realizing now it is still very much linked to FFS so i need to get up to speed on this area too.

Fanielle,

Between Bart and Facial Team, I would strongly suggest the Facial Team. You have the petspective and expertise of 2 wonderful surgeons with the FT. Their results are awsome and they have a lovely patient coordinator. I had my FFS with them I don't have a single complaint! With Dr Bart, however, i have seen mixed results. Plus, I found him cold during my consultation. Just my perspective!
