Well i'm planning my deed poll in few months and I was wondering what to do with my social media page of my ex-me.
How most of you did deal with it , did you close them and reopen a fresh account and restart from ground zero , deep stealth vs standard approach what the pro and con for social site
Don't really know what to do with all of that.

(This is my fist question , so not really sure if i'm on the right board, if no , I'm really sorry)

On FB,I just changed my name. It's kinda weird still seeing my birth name floating around old conversations so if you don't want a reminder of that then I'd suggest get a whole new profile entirely ,otherwise just change your name..

I created a new account on FB under my new name. I put a message on the old one asking my friends to friend the new one. That way I could tell who did or didn't get the message. I sent a followup email a few weeks later to all those friends who hadn't friended the new page.

On Facebook I just changed my name and pronouns. Didn't post any kind of explanation. Most people understood without having to be told what was going on. I deleted a lot of people in advance, and I came out to the people I actually spend time with well before I made the update. Didn't have any issues.

I sort of did a "boot and nuke" It's an IT term. Created my new account started friending people I knew starting with those I felt would take it best. Left a note on my old account saying I'm deleting that one. I ended up deleting it early as it was more distressing to me to have it around. I considered just editing my old account, but Facebook is fickle and I felt I needed the fresh start. With twitter I just changed my name.

Just made new accounts. The old ones are dead.

I started a new account and actually shut down the old account just prior to my name change and never looked back in regards to my social media pages. All of them were changed over slightly before. It really is up to you and what your comfortable doing. Hugs
