CTA should be used if you need the maximum amount of improvement. Dr Haben's triple combines all three surgeries because when you do the CTA, you will need another tracheal shave.

Got it thank you.

In your case, you may not need as much of a bump so the triple may not be required. If that is the case, you have a wider choice of surgeons to chose from.

OK, I understand

It's hard to say exactly what you need without numbers so this is a bit guess work and mostly general information.

Sure, I now need to record my voice but not till tomorrow as I have spent most of the day here on Susan's Place and my voice ( no it's not ..  ;) ) my finger is shattered. But having said that, Susan's Place is a very nice place to spend one's day on.

Goodnight

Paula

Looks like a trip to Korea then but will be expensive although I have had NHS funded surgery done in Canada (long story). But still would have to pay air fares, accommodation and return for check-ups.
Well, this is my personal opinion. At the time I did my research and decision. I did not know about Haben and Remarcle, so I compared Dr Kim to German surgeons and in that comparison it came out that I would rather pay $7500 for him than to get it done on NHS for free

But I have held off on this for a long time because this procedure scares me more than even the face as you only have one voice.

And we probably all know what happened to my face ...  >:(
Oh -- I dont... :-\
In any case one has only one of each - face and voice. For me, FFS is somehow more terrifying than voice surgery. After I saw what the state of the art with the good surgeons now is regarding voice surgery, I had the impresion that the worst case scenario would be to have little change - that would be an acceptable risk.
With FFS I am way more scared about nerves not surviving the procedure and all that...

Hiya,

Thank you for your reply.

The NHS does worry me still because of the abilities of their surgeons at times.

Going off topic somewhat, I had a varicose vein operation on my left leg last January 2015 and apart from the surgeon's abrupt manner with me pre-operatively ( he said you can either have the operation or leave it ), it has to be done all over again in a month's time. Also when I saw this surgeon in the spring when he was dictating the letter to his secretary for my GP, he referred to me as "He". Fortunately his secretary realised the mistake as my name is obviously female and typed the letter referring to me as "She". I have met transphobic medicos before.

You now give me a lot more confidence in having vocal chord surgery, thank you. Like all things, it's the fear of the unknown.

With regards your worry of having FFS, having been operated on twice now plus revisions, it's not such a big deal in terms of recovery. My first one was hardest but that was because of the first surgeon's techniques, but the second surgery although not a success was much easier.

Third time lucky for me in April 2016 ....  :)

Here are my threads on the matter.

A little light reading for you .... LOL ...  ;D

Hi "Kate"

Did you stay in Korea for your recovery?  If so how long?

Thnks!

Joi

They want you to stay 9-10 days.

I left NYC June 23 and came back July 4.

One thing to point out with CTA is that if you're a singer, CTA may affect your pitch control. This is purely from what I've read. I only had Yeson's version of glottoplasty.
