under modify profile go to the forum profile information area and the settings for it is there!

I'm not certain, but think you need to have 15 posts before you can use your own profile pic.
Look in frequently asked questions. I'm sure there is something about it there.
Don't worry though. It wont take long.

Welcome to Susans!  Yes, you do need at least 15 posts here before you can upload your own pic or  post pics in the photo gallery.  A fast way to get up to 15 posts is buy welcoming other new members...like I'm doing here
