First Happy New Year!  In all my researching mtf transitioning over the years, I've yet to see or hear about blind individuals suffering from gender identity disorder. Thus, I was curious if they too suffer from gender dysphasia? Thanks.

Hi Hon,

Yes, we have members who are legally blind. Obviously I need to make the Forum more accessible so more vision impaired people can reach us though.

We also have members who are physically handicapped, suffering from chronic disease, from every country that has internet access and from every walk of life.

The most recent stats put ->-bleeped-<- at about 4% of the population. There is no biological discrimination in being transgender; only against those who are.

I can easily imagine that it would be the case. After all being trans isn't about what you can see - sure for us sighted individuals there is a very visual component (Dress/clothing, make-up/hair/appearance, shoes/awesome accessories) but I know for me that wasn't the key factor in needing to transition - it was mostly to do with social integration and acceptance. I suspect though that people who are visually impaired have enough to deal with in life, if they happen to be trans on top of that being able to deal with transition, etc might just be a step too far.
