Thought I would start a thread about what VFS exercises are given by the individual surgeons. Does anybody wish to share thoughts. For example, Yeson? Remacle and Haben? What do they suggest? You are also welcome to PM me.

I do the Yeson exercises, maybe not as much as I should but I do them.

Dr Kim also suggested I see a speech therapist but my voice passes 100% of the time so I don't think I need it.

Which Yeson exercises in particular?

I think everybody having this type of surgery should visit a speech therapist at least a few times after surgery.
If all is well, then they can confirm it..if not and all is not well..then they can advise...a win win scenario.

Usually Lax Vox should help against hoarseness. I will start Lax Vox after the four weeks voice rest period and see if it works for me. I know it worked for other people after surgery.

The same as using a straw?

So its about buying a piece of silicone tubing measuring 35cm x 10 mm and blowing into it. :-)

Its derived from some norwegian speech therapy method. the basic function is similar to that of the straw method, but it also massages the vocal chords :) - I like it, but its a bit of a hassle to clean the tube and bottle after each use.
Yeson gives a set of exercises to do several times daily, they will show you the exercises and hand out a paper describing them, they also have a video that shows some of them on their website

You do not have to clean it after each use. That is not suggested and not necessary.

I used it before against hoarseness successfully and it should also work after surgery. But because you make a noise or sing the vocal coords are used and I will wait the four week period.
