"The Danish Girl director Tom Hooper says he was able to make his film thanks to the popularity of transgender stars such as Caitlyn Jenner.

The movie stars Eddie Redmayne as artist Einar Wegener, who is one of the first people to undergo gender-reassignment surgery in the 1920s.

It has been nominated for several Golden Globe awards."
