Hello Everyone,

Well, this is my first post for the year, so I would like to start off by wishing you all a very "Happy New Year'.
May it bring you, love, happiness, and success  :) .

I've spent the holiday season in Thailand undergoing SRS surgery through Dr Chettawut. I had my surgery back on the 19th of December, and have been back at the hotel recovering for nearly a couple of weeks now.

All went well, and I have been dilating as instructed each day. Wow, what a chore!! lol
Although there is something that I don't quite understand which has been playing on my mind......
Before I dilate I usually put a lubed up finger in my vagina to help spread the lube around. However, when I do this, I can feel what I can only best describe as a thin plastic strip just below my vaginal wall/skin, which seems to start about an inch or so in.

Does anyone know what this this is, and what it is for?? I figure it is there as some sort of reinforcing material.

I'm sorry if this dos'nt make any sense, but I'm really struggling to find a better way of describing it!! lol.

I asked one of the Thai nurses earlier on today when she came around to check on me, and all she said was that it was because I had thin skin??
Although I'm not sure if she completely understood what I meant due to a slight language barrier.

Anyway, it's got me a wee bit baffled.
I will be having a follow up visit with Dr Chettawut in a few days time, so should be able to eventually get an answer from him, but in the meantime any help would be much appreciated.

Many Thanks,
Annah.

Hernia repairs use a plastic mesh to correct weak spots. It's possible the doctor found an issue while he was working on you where a tear could happen if the area wasn't reenforced so he used the surgical mesh to ensure you wouldn't have a problem in the future.

As always, the best answer is ask your doctor. Sadly I didn't know this when I had my surgery and after 33 years I am attempting to figure out what's in the owners manual for my surgery.

Hi there!

I didn't really do much poking around during my recovery. I practised applying lube directly to the dilator using the tube because the feeling of lube on my fingers always freaked me out... I assume you mean you find this strip inside the vagina?

I don't really have much advice to give except talk to Chett when you can. Be persistent and don't stop talking until you understand each other, it's much the same with the nurses. I found that I could get around the language barrier after a few tries.

Otherwise, best of luck with recovery!! It may suck but you're on the road to a better life now :)

Thanks for the great replies everyone, and sorry for not posting sooner. The wifi in the hotel has been playing up over the last few days!!

Yes, I'm sure it's not something to be overly concerned about, and I have stopped stressing about it now. I have my follow up appointment with Dr Chettawut on the 19th, so will ask him about this, along with any other issues I may come across.

Thanks again :).
Annah.
