"With less than 24 hours to go before a House committee was due to take up the amended version of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), stripped of transgender protections, Democratic leaders in the House have put off the hearing in the face of a storm of criticism from LGBT leaders nationwide".

This is great news. We all pulled together and got something done. Now if that person in office doesn't use the V word, we will be sitting pretty. He all ready has the lowest public opinion. How about if he goes for more point off. He wants to veto the childrens bill too. What kind of monster is this person. I'm a Republican and I can't stand the man. I just go on and believe that one man doesn't make a party. I hope not.

Pressure mounts

Nearly 100 gay organizations sent a letter Monday to every member of the House saying "very clearly and unequivocally that we refuse to accept and in fact we oppose any legislation that leaves any part of our community behind, particularly the transgender community," said Matt Foreman, executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. "This is a watershed moment in the history of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender movement. The last five days have been one of the most grueling and difficult we have ever faced, but our community has rallied in ways we've never seen before."
