So initially i was scheduled for first endo visit feb 1st, yesterday afternoon while out and about on errands i thought id call and re confirm my appointment time and date,on a whim i asked if any earlier dates opened up due to cancellation. I was shocked when the receptionist said they had one open for tomorrow,so instead of waiting another month i get to see the dr later this afternoon. Im a mix between excited and anxious, can anyone tell me what i might expect? Any feedback is welcome :)

I'm sure every endo does their own thing - that said I'm guessing the general theme is the same-ish...

They'll probably ask you some questions about your health and health history, and the health history of your family. They'll probably take height, weight and blood pressure. They may do an examination of the testes to determine the size (larger usually means more testosterone to deal with) and they will very likely want you to get a blood test before they prescribe any HRT. When they do prescribe it you will very likely be started on a low dose so that your body can be eased in the change, increases will depend on how your system handles it all over the next few weeks and months.

Good luck!!

I just all depends. I would expect a bunch of questions that relate to why you are there. My endo wanted to confirm why I sought her out, what my issues were, and how I wanted to address them. All the questions actually made me quite comfortable with her.

Blood work is next. Your endo just wants to see where you are at with your levels, current condition of your liver and other internal processes. Once that is determined they will prescribe medication.

Ask questions and get fimiliar with all the information, as I'm sure you already are. Knowing what form of hrt you'd prefer helps as well. I hope this helps!!

Good luck. I hope it goes smoothly.

I finally have mine in a few weeks as well. Waiting all  this time, now I'm getting nervous.

I was so nervous today,my blood pressure was up a tad but not insanely high, but the staff was so amazingly friendly and courteous, even asked me which name i wished to be addressed as and didnt misgender me either.

It helped out me at ease homestly, and the Doctor was very professional and understanding,we went over the risks and he answered my questions really well, did labs today and he also started me out on spiro and an oral estrogen for now eventually i want to switch to a sublingual but baby steps i suppse, what really awed me was that he didnt try to disuade me or gate keep,he just asked that i continue to see my therapist and even gave me some referals to some social groups in tucson. It was a long day but finally a new day.

I think that any decent endocrinologist would know how much of a positive difference HRT can make for trans people (binary or NB, transitioning or not) so they're not interested in gatekeeping they just want you to have a safe experience with the medication they put you on.

I agree,he went over the risks and the possibility my arthritis may be negatively affected as well,so far i havent noticed it getting worse, instead ive gained some of my flexibility back but just a small bit of it,i was nervous about my appointment because of all the information and requirements i sifted through beforehand not to mention i get anxious sometimes, just glad ive finally through the gate(figure of speech) which was the hard part, feeling calmer and less stressed now
