From TRT to HRT, how does this work?

Hello all,

I am CIS Male currently on Testosterone Replacement Therapy. Without going into to much back story, I was diagnosed with low Testosterone and was sold on it being the cure all for everything. After doing it for awhile, I have found I just got more muscle mass and hair loss. It helped not at all with my Dysphoria or general well being.

I realize seeking a medical professional is the best bet and intend to do so, but I was wondering if anyone has done this. What steps did they take (not looking for dosages or anything) i.e. went straight off TRT to straight on HRT or had to taper it. Basically is there a different protocol or timeline.

Thanks in advance!

Hey Paige!

Welcome to Susan's  :)  Great to have you here - looking forward to seeing you around the forum.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused - you say you are cisgender but are talking about going on HRT (as in estrogen and anti-androgens)? Generally that would mean you are transgender I would have thought. Sorry if I've misunderstood.

Sorry, I used the incorrect terminology. I was just wanted to be clear that I was born a genetic male. Thanks for your help

Welcome to the forum Paige.  I started off with pretty high testosterone but wasn't getting it as a supplement so I can't really answer that part of your question.  I do know that having high testosterone does nothing to prevent or cure dysphoria though.  I wonder why Drs hang on to that antiquated notion?  Hopefully someone else here has your answer and will be along soon.
