So, little bit of preface, I've been saving up for the past year or so, and managed to sock away nearly 6k for facial surgery. The surgery I have in mind costs between 9-10k, but that's not an issue, I'll have enough by the time I'm ready for it... What I'm looking at getting done, is a rhinoplasty, and forehead contouring...

...and while I'm super excited now that it looks like I've nearly got everything in order to get this done, I've essentially scared myself ->-bleeped-<-less at this point. Don't get me wrong, I really want the surgery... but how do you work through your fear of the surgery, complications, the idea that you might not like the end results, etc, etc. Like, I'm losing sleep over this, and I'd like to make peace with myself before I go under the knife.

I saw a vid of a girl who was very content with her FFS.
She had brow treatment, rhinoplasty and jaw treatment (which you don't have).

Well she said it was heavy ... she could not eat right for a few days ... but she always wanted to change her nose ...

you might try to avoid stress ...
get a few times a day in a place where you can think about it ... quietly ...
and listening to your intuition ...

its possible there will be pain ...
and some discomfort like problems with eating ...

do you have a feeling you are in good hands with the surgeon ?
What could give you a good feeling ?
Do you have someone as company ?
can you try to relax there ... maybe read something, or watch a few vids you always wanted to watch ...

baseline is :
can you try to relax, and get comfortable with the whole procedure ?
Or does your intuition tell you you do not want it in the first place ?

I have FFS scheduled in September. I too have some fear about the procedures. I think it is normal to think about the potential issues. If you had no fear that may be the unusual condition.

I have an issue with alcohol and drugs ( I am sober and clean 17 years). My plan is to have a visiting nurse provide the meds each day when she checks in on me. I expect there will be pain as I am having mandible work and other procedures.

I expect there will be an improvement in looks but being pragmatic I do not have preconceive ideas as to what I will look like.

I thought about infections and I will keep a close look out and get it early if it occurs.

I am apprehensive about looking different and going to work. This is a real concern. I do not want any attention or comments. I just want to come into work and do my job.

I think it is healthy to have concerns. When possible plan what you can. Keep you expectations in check and watch for things you can catch in an early stage (infections). Things you can not control like peoples reactions are something the just has to be endured.

Good luck in your procedures.
