Did you encounter weight loss during FFS recovery?

I think it isn't uncommon for patients to lose weight while recovering from a surgery, depending on the intensity. I know that a spinal fusion I underwent 11 years ago had me lose a tremendous amount of weight (I want to say ~30 pounds over the period of a week). Although, a spinal fusion is pretty high on the surgical intensity scale.

Anyhow!

Has anyone lost a notable amount of weight while recovering from FFS? How much work was done? How much did you lose?

Please let me know your experiences! I'll be having FFS (nearly full-face) in a week and I'm very curious about this.

In ~ 3 weeks post extensive ( bone and soft tissue work ) FFS I lost 10% of my body weight.  I attribute a lot to the fact I was in Buenos Aires by myself.  While there I went back to a sparse diet I'd lived on until I met my partner 16 years ago.  Until I met her food was something I consumed to stay living, I was to busy being a workaholic.

I've been back for almost 2 months, have gained a some of the weight back.

Hi,

Had extensive FFS at the upper part of the face June this year with Dr Di Maggio in Buenos Aires.
I lost approx 5kg but part of the explanation may be some changes in diet(less carbohydrates during my stay in BA). Anyway, I've gained 2kg since then, but I more than happy to not gain any more :-)

All the best
Jannicke

I would suggest loosing as much weight possible prior to surgery so facial bones are more pronounced.  Then regaining after surgery if desired.  Personally I look better with some weight on.  As I have been very thin at times and also a little chunky, and I look best in the middle, and purposely keep my weight in the thick area, not fat yet not thin.

I had FFS on January 6 2016 where I had brow contouring, rhinoplasty and tracheal shave.
This was done by facial surgeon Philip Solomon in Richmond Hill, Ontario just north of Toronto.
I lost about 5 lbs due to the liquids only for the first two or three days. Since then it has been solids and a return to normal diet after 6 or 7 days. My weight is back to 140 lbs which has been my steady weight for several years. I could easily gain 10 more pounds if I ate more and worked out so that the weight would be denser muscle instead of fat. I looked rather thin in the face from 7 months of hormone therapy so any weight gain in the face would be welcome.

Thank you all so much for the responses!

I had my FFS 1 week ago today. I feel like I lost a lot in the first few days, then gained some back. I wish I could contribute more to my own thread, but I don't have a scale!

I'm also in a foreign country and don't have much money, so I won't be getting one. I'm sorry if anyone was curious. :(

Thank you again for responding!!
