A bill that would retroactively protect businesses that choose not to provide services for same-sex marriages was introduced Monday in the state Legislature by Rep. Brad Klippert, R-Kennewick.

Klippert is one of 37 cosponsors on another bill intended to override a new state rule requiring buildings open to the public to allow transgender people to use restrooms and locker rooms for the gender by which they identify.

Legislators need more biology education on such things as intersex and Kleinfelter's Syndrome. XX and XY do NOT always identify a person's gender. Basing a bill on DNA alone is going to cause more problems in this rainbow world. Knowledge has moved beyond the days where people believed the "gods" cause storms and droughts and must be placated by human sacrifice. (Okay, sorry for the rant) The point is, we now know that male and female, while often is identified by chromosomes, this is not always the case. Legislators maybe need more education in advanced biology.

Knowledge may have moved past that stage but apparently wisdom has not.

Love is not obedience, conformity, or submission. It is a counterfeit love that is contingent upon authority, punishment, or reward. True love is respect and admiration, compassion and kindness, freely given by a healthy, unafraid human being....  - Dan Barker
