Stephenie S

Hey Everyone,

I am Stephenie, my friends call me Steffi.
I am from Toronto Canada.
I am 55 y/o
I have been in transition for a year and on hormone therapy since May 2015.
I believe transition started a year ago rather than when I began HT. Having stated laser hair removal in  January 2015, which I believe to have been and important first step.
I wasn't certain about being transgender but I had researched online and there was a strong opinion expressed that starting hair removal while sorting out ones state of being was a very good idea.
I did laser for 6 months which took care of what dark hair there was at which point I switched to electrolysis.
The person I see uses a blended system which I understand to be the best one available.
By April 2015 after finishing a gender journey course at a health center here, I was identifying as trans female.
Started spironolactone that month and E 3 weeks later.
I am out with my brother who is my only family from my family of origin, also with my wife of 19 years and our 17 y/o daughter.
I get support from each of them and from friends I made in the gender ID course.
Getting very close to presenting full time especially due to FFS that was done 11 days ago.
My recovery from FFS has been quite good and I hope after a month I will be through a lot of the swelling and bruising  enough to get back to normal life. I know it will be months for everything to be quite settled though.
Since I am self employed and it is winter which is my usual down time I am not in a hurry to get back out into society. I plan to heal, transition, take voice therapy and work on other details to be better able to cope with life full time by spring.
So that is a little about me and I look forward to learning more about you all and transition issues from my time here at Susans.

Hello and welcome Steffi!!

I used to live in Toronto until a few years ago and now live across the lake in one of the small communities.

The Gender Journey course was a good one, I had one a few years ago and it really helped. I also think it might be a prerequisite at CAMH but I'm not sure.

Lots of friendly people here and many people have lots of experiences you an draw on.

Good luck and hopefully we can meet up some day.

All the best.

Love,
Clare. XO XO
