Janis

Hi my name is Janis,

I am a transgendered male to female.
I have struggled with this condition as far back as I can
remember, even as far back as age five when I first
noticed my fascination with all thing considered to be
feminine. As most people who have gone through this
know it is not easy but, after being on this planet for over
fifty years I have come to a kind of truce about it all.
I am an artist and this allows me a certain freedom to create
pictures and images which are more perfectly aligned to
my true self image.

I know that I can't be a pretty natural born woman physically
but I can be one with respect to artistic image and spirituality.
I tell my friends, ' I may get old and ugly but my artwork will always stay
young and beautiful.
I like to be seen as a woman in appearance when I can get away with it,
but my favorite  feminine expression will always be through my art.
It has served me well through all those dangerous times of adjustment.

Hi Janis,

   Welcome to susans.

It's nice that you have your talent for self expression to help you make things a little easier.  It can be very tough on people who are unable to let out their feelings.

You should be running into some interesting people here.  :) See you around

Hi, Janis, and welcome to this place of learning, sharing, trial, and introspection.  In the short time that I have been here I have seen many topics discussed in a proper and safe (not sterile) atmosphere.

Expression of gender through art fascinates me.  It feels to me like a vicarious femininity, the woman you are in whatever form the artwork takes.

Enjoy!

H Janis!

Welcome to here :)
I've also been struggling with this condition for 50 years and have just come to my senses, so you're not alone.
I consider art a perfect way to express your inner feelings, and have always been a great admirer. I may not be an expert, but I can tell whether or not the artist is expressing something from within. Its the difference between a beautiful painting and yet another 'lost in art' daub done to make money.
My partner is also an accomplished artist. She does the most beautiful paintings...our house is crammed full...so I've learned to appreciate it...and live with the mess :)
Anyway, welcome again, and I cant wait to here more from you!

Thanks for the reply Bobbie,
It's definitely nice to know I'm not alone
and that there is a place like this to safely
share some thoughts and experiences.
