Convincing Parents to let me go on T

I'm at a point in my life where a lot of my peers have pretty much gone through puberty already, myself included. But it's hard when that wasn't the right puberty for me to go through..

My parents are supportive of me, and let me go to gender therapy but have told me they wouldn't let me do HRT, and I don't think I can handle it mentally to wait till moving out of the house.

I think their main concern is that they don't want to be responsible if I end up deciding I'm not trans later on (which I highly doubt will happen)

How can I convince them otherwise that this would help my mental state and well being? Is there any studies that show that most trans youth don't go back or something similar I can show them?

It would be interesting to know if there is any such study - I suspect that there have been too few under 16 teens treated with HRT over the last ten years or so to really establish a viable long term study. That may be starting to change of course, but then the question is how long do you wait to see before you decide they haven't changed their mind. What you need to do is find some trans people who were placed on HRT at your age and, some 10 or so years later, are happy with their life. Perhaps your therapist can help in that regard.

The other issue is whether you could be treated with HRT, some local laws won't allow anyone under 18 or 16 to be treated with HRT even with parental approval. Again, your therapist should know the legality of that.

Hang in there, I know it seems unbearable right now, but they may still come around sooner rather than later.

here are links to some resources that might be shown:

It might help Cis people understand ... sometimes it might be difficult for them to relate.

One of the links lead to a thread for young trans people, you might also have a look there.

And there is also a chat on susans.

Hugs, GizJaz. This is a tough situation to be in.

My suggestion is to find some adult allies. Is there a PFLAG chapter near you? Is there someone at school who can talk to your parents? A family friend? A counselor? A knowledgeable doctor? They need to understand what gender dysphoria can do to a young person.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?
