Can anyone from this area recommend a doctor or two I can talk to about getting this train moving and starting hormone therapy? Or, least point me in the right direction?

I don't know if we have any members specifically from your area, if we do I hope they can help. Have you considered trying to find a local LGBT support group, they might be able to help?

um, maybe? There might be one at the university here, but I think one has to be enrolled there for that.

One of those lists only lists a doctor named Richard Wynn. I've heard of him, but I don't know next to anything about him. Know anyone who might be able to tell me more?

I see. If there's one around here, I'll have to check it out. Thanks, Laura.

I use Planned Parenthood in Raleigh NC.  The other two in NC (that I know of) that do HRT are Chapel Hill and Asheville.  If they are providing HRT in Charlotte that would be relatively recently started, but I wouldn't be surprised.

That's what I've found out, too. Not heard anything about Charlotte's office doing it, so the next closest one is Asheville. What can you tell me about Planned Parenthood's services? Do they accept insurance?

If you go to the Asheville PP web page it has the following information on insurance.

    Blue Shield

I've looked at all that. It just doesn't specify if it's all Blue Cross Blue Shield insurances, or just some. Do you know, by chance?

Get an appointment with Dr Holly Savoy in Charlotte.  She is a psychologist who works with transgendered people.  She will provide a letter.  Then get an appointment with Dr Carl Hueghes in Charlotte who specializes in internal medicine.  He will evaluate you and prescribe hormones.

How much would that cost? Got any kind of estimate of that?

PP accepts all Blue Cross Blue Shield. Now what exactly your plan will covers? Whether your plan covers HRT (estradiol or spironolactone) or blood tests, you'll have to log into your BCBS account and find out.  Or call PP and ask them if they know.

Peace!

I don't know how to access the account, but I'll ask Planned Parenthood when/if I get a chance to go up there.

I can't help you logging into your insurance account, but you can phone PP and ask your questions.
