Kyo

Hello, first of all I have to apologize for my bad english since my main language is spanish. I'm 29 years old and i'm identify myself as male since i was a little boy but yeah, i born female. I went to therapy and finally i started hormones last year on february. I use T gel, one sachet everyday and during all this year my voice gone deeper, face hair appeared amongst a lot of changes. Yes, i've been happier but this month my hair start to fell, mostly on front and i really really dont like it. It started to be noticiable and my hairline changed but this change is recent, i had a lot of issues of start transitioning because i look like a lot to my dad and i have "daddy issues" so one of my terrors is become him (physical too) and he's bald so i'm gona look like him more and i dont want to see him in the mirror. I know maybe my hairline is not gonna be growing again but i wanna know if i stop T my hair will stop falling? Maybe it dont grow again but i dont wanna lose it more. Yes i know the side effects of stoping but i really dont wanna lose more hair. Thanks for reading.

Welcome to Susan's Place. Hair might regrow if you stop soon enough and once all the the hormones have left your body, the hair loss should stop. The exception is some CIS women lose their hair. The only way to find out will be to stop using T but the down side is some of the feelings that caused you to start T may return. This is something you should discuss with both your therapist and the doctor who provides your T.

The other option is men sometimes use drugs that prevent hair loss. Many of these are by prescription only so once again you need to talk to your doctor about this. The more hair loss you have, the less likely your hairline will recover so it's best not to wait to long.

We issue to all new members the following links so you will best be able to use the web site.

Hi, Kyo. You also can't predict when your hair loss will slow down--or if it will. I've seen a number of trans men who lost some hair rapidly and then hit a point where the loss slowed down quite a bit. I think of it as "catch-up"--maybe they were catching up to where they would have been at this age if they had been regular guys.

Some of us try finasteride pills to battle hair loss. That didn't work very well for me, but it works great for others. This medication tends to interfere with your masculinizing process, though. At first, I didn't think I was seeing any ill effects; only when I stopped taking finasteride did I realize how subtle the effects had been. My body hair wasn't growing in as fast, my beard was very slow, I wasn't nearly as horny, and so on. I decided that I would rather lose my hair than live that way. I've been lucky so far; my hair is still thinning in front, but I'm not bald by a long shot. I suppose I will be partly bald eventually.

If you have issues with your father, might you be able to work through them with a therapist? I don't know what your situation is.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

A short note to let you know that several trans men I know have these issues, hair loss and fear of becoming like their fathers. I know some who have stopped T because of one of these reasons. Others have taken Finasterid, but it has the side effects that were described (on cis men too).
I'm not sure there is an ideal solution, but maybe it help to know that others have that problem too?

Don't let your issues with your father stop you from becoming who you are. It could be a bump in the road to your true self. It is a hangup but you may have to deal with those issues if you stop taking T or not and might become stronger man for it. Do not look in the mirror and see him, see you Tu estas muy guapo! If anything buzz all the hair off now or dye it a different color and let it grow back after you work out the issues with therapist and weight room.

Ten fe que dará lugar a la fuerza, ser firmes estancia fiel a sí mismo y que se fortalecerá mi amigo. My spanish not so good but you get the point.

You could also try minoxidil (Rogaine). The effects of this drug are more localized than finasteride.

You need to lose hair as part of masculinization because the female hairline is different and will make your face look subtly more feminine. Check out pictures of studly masculine dudes and you will see they have higher foreheads because of the effect of T.

Chase Ross (uppercaseChase1 on youtube) did some videos about stopping T and starting it again and he cited his hair as a major reason. You can see in his current videos that he has embraced his more masculine hair now. He found he couldn't stay off T for long ... the curse came back, some of his changes started to reverse, and he didn't feel good. But check out the videos and take his words for it.

I don't think that Kyo is coming back. He has only a couple of posts from quite some time ago. I don't suppose anyone has contacted him by PM? Regardless, I hope he found what he was looking for.
