As a republican I too have been wondering what might happen. I share the same thought process as Mariah. So many have made great strides and advancements that it will be difficult to take them from us.
I see someone not getting the republican nomination the other one getting mad (Cruz or Trump) and starting a third party. The votes get divided and a Dem takes it. I am still not even sure if Cruz can be POTUS, and this coming from a lifelong republican. He might have birth place issues. Now how ironic that he might have birth place dysporia.
Many of us served for everyones rights and they will not be taken away easily, you can rest assured of that.

rights were denied in Houston so it's really not that big of leap.

Congress only had to pass a law outlawing what the execuative order does to remove execuative orders. Meaning anything can be undone.

I don't really see much difference in Trump or Cruz winning over each other so I would react to both of them the same. Cruz is obvious with his hateful rhetoric and Trump is also... most of the time. The one place I see him beating around the bush is with anything related to LGBT. I keep seeing LGBT people support him because he doesn't openly hate them, but he has openly mocked trans people at least once and he has claimed that he would consider turning gay marriage back to a state-by-state decision. This to me states that he has an anti-LGBT agenda that he is trying to cover up. He will throw us under the bus once he wins because then he doesn't have to win our vote anymore.

No, I'd be afraid of a Republican president today no matter which of them wins. One is serving himself and the other is serving his corporate overlords. They are both against us.

Because its genetic makeup is irregular, it quickly changes its form due to a variety of causes.

Good point. That is part of the battle not the war. Having grown up in Houston I am unfortunatly not shocked. Mega churches are a dime a dozen there just like we have Focus on the Family in my area. They have a big influence. Most advancements will have to take place on a federal level, like marriage equality.

Huckabee (2008), Santorum (2012), Cruz (2016)... The evangelical christianist always wins Iowa because the evangelical christianists show up at caucuses. I want Cruz to win the nomination because he would lose the general in a defeat of Goldwaterian proportions, and maybe take the House and Senate with him.

When you cut through the BS, America is really a liberal country.

I like statistics.  Your statement is comforting.

Either which way we need Bernie!

Ted Cruz: Obama Administration Support For Trans School-Aged Children Is "Lunacy"

During an appearance on conservative radio show Louder With Crowder, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz addressed transgender rights — saying it was "lunacy" for the federal government to mandate that "boys with all the god-given equipment of boys" share a shower room with school-aged girls.
Cruz was talking about Islamic extremism during his appearance posted online Thursday, when host Steven Crowder pivoted to the issue of "genetically proper pronouns."
"Well listen, senator – I don't mean to say you're out of touch, because you're dealing with it politically, but we're talking about a generation of people who get offended if you use the genetically proper pronouns," said Crowder. "So getting to the point of calling something Islamic terrorism is a little further down the trail."
"Look, these guys are so nutty that the federal government is going after school districts, trying to force them to let boys shower with little girls," Cruz replied. "Now listen: I'm the father of two daughters, and the idea that the federal government is coming in saying that boys, with all the god-given equipment of boys, can be in the shower room with junior high girls – this is lunacy!"
"And I bet you there are a whole lot of parents – particularly parents of daughters – that are not eager to have the federal government saying 'Guess what? Your daughter has to shower with a boy, if he wants to be in there,'" added the senator.
Cruz added later in the interview, "You know, the funny thing is, my five-year-old knows there's a difference between boys and girls. And yet modern Leftists can't figure that out."

Well, it depends on the Republican. If it were Colin Powell running, I expect we'd be alright at the end of the day. One of the ones currently running though? Then I'd say that we would be well and truly ******.

I would rather have a republican pres who will put Americans back to work over a democrat who gives us more debt. The only reason billy boy Clinton had surplus during his 8 yr term was because the republicans held him in check. Look to Detroit and you will see what social policies do, they cause massive debt and ruin. I know govt for I've studied how our govt is suppose to work and all democrats have given is is debt.

Oh definitely. Republican politicians have been a mixed bag in the past just like any political party, but both sides are too polarized now to allow that to happen any more. I'm usually more moderate and I'd vote for both sides in the past, but I can't really do that any more. I'm registered as a Democrat now and I plan to follow through completely because I can't even fathom what the Republican party has turned into now.

Sticking to just the social issues...

Once the fundamentalist viewpoint tries to reign in equal rights, the pendulum abruptly swings back.

Let them try to squish our rights. They'll succeed in this election cycle with a whole bunch of bathroom initiatives to try and get out their voters. Ultimately they will lose and in a much faster timescale than if they just left things alone. Republicans are most effective when they try to 'conserve' things, not take them away.

Remember proposition 8 in California where they squashed gay marriage? It went to the supreme court and started an avalanche of cases in the most fundamentalist states starting with Utah. Now gay marriage is legal in all states. As a minority, the T's are following up on the coat tails of gay rights. I am thankful to the gay community. We are pretty small and quite frankly don't get together much. We couldn't turn out fifty of us for a protest.

Okay, social issues off:

I'm far more concerned about short term things that an all Republican government might do, like hacking up social security, health care, or brashly taking us in to unneeded conflict.

If the Republicans win, darkness will descend upon the earth,  monsters will roam freely leaving havoc in their wake, and the people will raise their voices in cries of despair invoking their Deities to undo the great evil they have released from the fiery pits of hell.

Ok, maybe that's a slight exaggeration but I'm bored and feeling hyperbolic at the moment.
