that two interfering TG girls told one of my best TG friends in the USA to come off HRT.

Some girls are ' Know It Alls ' and consider themselves to be experts when it comes to transition related issues and in this case neither are medically trained or qualified.

Their advice was totally irresponsible !!!

G'rrrrrrrrrrrrr ... >:(

Luckily this friend of mine sees an endocrinologist every 6 months so I told her to go and see this genuine expert a.s.a.p.

I have just called my friend and she has not reapplied her patches.

She also admitted that she came off HRT 6 months ago. I was shocked to say the least. ... :o

I told her off and said " Apply a patch now".

She will also get a telling off from my other USA friend when she calls.

I will never forgive those two people that advised her to come off the hormones.

If my friend who is getting on now ( she is way over 70 ) breaks her hip, leg or something, I will get on a plane and might do something to them that I will probably regret.

Just called my endocrinologist and he said " Tell you friend to go and see her endo a.s.a.p before reapplying any patch.

So I have left her a message to do just that.

It seems your leaving out a lot of information about the reasons she was told to get off of HRT.

Hi Stephanie,

Thanks for your reply.

I haven't left out any information as this is all that I have been told.

But there may be more to it than I know.

The main thing is that my friend is now back on hormones.

If I find out more, I will keep the forum informed.

Apparently it was only one interfering girl involved.

Ms Grace

Sadly you'll always find someone who thinks they know more and are qualified to dish out medical advice despite having no qualifications...

This is one of the reasons we always instruct people to consult their physician as per the rules listed in the
Site Terms of Service and rules to live by

Quote8. The discussion of hormone replacement therapy(HRT) and it's medications are permitted, with the following limitations:
A. You may not advocate for or against a specific medication or combinations of medication for personal gain. This is strictly prohibited.
B. You may not discuss the means to acquire HRT medications without a prescription. The discussion of self medication without a doctor's supervision is prohibited.
C. The posting of recommended, or actual dosages, is strongly discouraged to prevent information obtained on this site from being used to self medicate.

We cannot in good conscience condone the self administering of these medications. Not only may self medication be illegal, but HRT medications can cause serious health problems, and many have the potential for life-threatening side effects that can only be detected and prevented with proper medical supervision.

If anyone from this site is attempting to 'Play Dr.' it should be reported immediately

Hi VM,

As far as I know the girl who irresponsibly advised my friend, is not a forum member.

Take care

I have been off hormones for about 10 years because of 20 year old outdated information. I was aware of the risk of bone damage so I made sure my calcium intake was sufficient to prevent loss in my bones. Based on new information and a study of my past treatment I am in the process of returning to hormone. Something not discussed is that the body will de feminize. All that well placed fat has ended up on my stomach, exactly the place where I didn't want it. I plan to post a thread on this as I get farther along for people like me who through doctors instruction went off hormones and are considering returning to them.

There are even menopausal women treated with hormones because they say it makes them feel better.
And transgender people are not menopausal women... so imo hormones should be well in the female range.
Also the mix should be right. Cis people have estrogen, bioidentical progesterone and a small amount of testosterone.
You might look up this study:

I'd say talk it all through with your doc....
