Unisex clothing sources

Hi sibs (siblings)

   I spent about 90 minutes poking around on the internet specifically searching for unisex clothing and came up with 2 possibilities.  One is a place called butterflymama.com and the other was cargopants.com.  I found a place called fuddleduds.com, but the clothes were what I consider icky; stuff like windpants and sweats. ugh.  Most places that claimed to have unisex stuff weren't anything special.

  Let's have a thread here where we can try to gather some places and styles for unisex clothing that we mostly agree on being decent.

  Personally, if I weren't such a poor rebis, I'd probably just go to some fancy places and buy stylish clothing from both the men's and the womans' sections. But I ain't got the bread and it's as senseless as murder to buy one or two perfect pieces of clothing that don't go with anything else you own.

Back when I was trying to look androgynous, I just bought women's versions of men's fashions: polo shirts, khaki pants, casual shoes, etc.

   I want to buy some women's cargo pants, but, for some reason, my evil other half gets all hyper about it even though I keep explaining no one will know the difference.

For what it's worth, when I came out at work I asked a number of my coworkers, "Didn't you notice I've been wearing women's clothing for the last few months?"

And none of them had noticed. Again though, we're just talking women's khakis, polo shirts and some nice sweaters. I kinda pushed it a bit to with pinks and reds, and lacey-edges and collars, but apparently everyone just thought it was my "style."

I figure people aren't *expecting* males to be wearing women's clothing, so they'll subconsciously make whatever they see fit into what they expect.

I agree. In the case of khaki's and cargo pants there is practically no reason for anyone to notice what gender your pants are.  [yes, my clothes are gendered. I have a hat named Lucy and a shoe named Biff  ]

   For me, the difference is that they seem to sell a woman's version of cargo pants that have a thinner leg than the men's.  When I was a teenager, all of my pants had thin legs, even the bell bottoms.  Now, they make them all wide, seemingly.

   I don't know if I should wear Oxford shoes. I don't think my feet would like being in something that's better educated than they are.

I can't really help much. Just to add to the mix though if you go to Androgyne online they have links to some online shops that sell transgender themed T's.

I look stupid in T's. or maybe I just feel stupid in a T. Or maybe I'm just stupid.  I've been turned off by them since they were worn by "The Fonze"


I do like the idea of TG themes, however.  In fact, sometimes I try to dream up TG logos or pictures or phrases that I'd like to see on clothing.  Celebratory stuff.

I agree with you Kate,

I noticed the same thing, I think that most men have a depleted
awareness of relatively slight feminine details when worn by what they
perceive to be another Joe. But to us it would be as obvious as a freeway billboard.

It's the other very small percentage you have to look out for and I think those men may be latent Tgs themselves and may or may not be at good terms with it.

unisex clothing is often more drab then just male clothing. horaay for purple, colour of royalty and women and androgyne royals.

      I just remembered my old passion for historical clothing.  It's better than the modern junk because it's got flair plus ambiguity.    Hmmmm.
