"Since 2007, Oregon law has prohibited discrimination based on sexual orientation, which includes gender identity.

Roseburg attorney Dan Clark, who's practiced school law for more than 25 years, focused on accommodating transgender students in Douglas County school districts at a training session Thursday for school staff and administrators.

"We are required to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for our students," Clark said. "That's the number one expectation of parents when they send their kids off to school . . . and that's our primary objective." "
