So, I have always been fascinated with spy's. Movie's, books, non-ficational stories, whatever. I almost went into to counter espionage as my MOS in the Army, before deciding to back out of the whole thing. I wanted a career path into the CIA. One thing I read about name changing (not sure where) is to have it closely related to your name somehow.
E.G. Lance Kenneth McConnell ( not my name ) that could equal many things but simple would =
masculine - Lawrence Kennedy McCain
Feminine - Constance Kendra McFolly
the purpose is to have a name that resembles your name closely enough that you don't hesitate to answer when it is spoken.
However, we are not spies we are transitioning. While this may come in handy if you're not overly concerned, you may want to put some thought in your future name.
I initially went with the above method.
Wesley= Leslie (hence my screen name on the site)
after answering to it on this forum and others I didn't feel it suited me. I then went with a name that I had always loved. Which was Delilah. I remember even when I was a child I thought that was the most beautiful name in any story I had ever heard. This still in a way stays true to the method. It is ingrained in my mind, also unique. If I am dressed or in chat somewhere I will answer to Delilah without thought. I believe as temporary as a cover ID name relation is proper, not so much as the name you will eventually put on all your documents.
Now I just wish I could change my screen name lol
