gap in my "goatee"

My hormones are fun in a way that it provides me with extreme moodswings, and the power to grow a goatee pre-T. so I guess it sucks and it´s nice at the same time...  ???

The thing is this goatee only grows left and right of my chin. So it´s a goatee but with a weird bald spot in the middle. Eh... it looks rather strange and I would like to find some kind of way to fill it.

I tried biotine but that makes my acne skyrocket. I´m also open to ways to make it "look like there isn´t a bald spot". Anyone else have something comparable? Suggestions? :)

Biotin is great but only if you drink a lot of water. I don't think they mention it on either of the bottles I have, but if you're taking the recommended dose on the bottle, you should be drinking about 100oz of water a day to avoid the acne.

Facial hair in general grows really funny. My sideburns are very thick and they extend down to my jaw line. I also have under chin hair, but no connection to the bottom of the sideburns. And despite both of those areas having very dark hair, my mustache is blonde.

So fret not! Think about all the teenage boys you've ever seen with goofy looking facial hair, and just remember that you're basically going through puberty too :)

Oh that makes sense. It didn´t say anything on the bottle and I have pretty bad acne as is. But I don´t drink enough water normally, so that might´ve been it.

Same! I wasn't a huge water drinker, so it took some getting used to, but I do think the effects of biotin are worth it.

Mt? here.  I noticed some peach fuzz on my upper lip when I was 16.  At 22, I was able to grow a tuft on my chin.  At 25, my moustache was finally bushy enough to not make me look like a child molester.  At 30, the tuft had expanded and I could grow a full goatee.  I still have a bald spot the size of a thumb print just under my chin, on the right side.  Maybe if I don't get electrolysis, I'll be able to grow a full beard by the time I'm 60.

Facial hair is weird.

Not only is it weird, but seems to be very much influenced by genetics.  Holes and patches, as well as colors, do seem to run in families.  Look at your relatives yo get an idea about how it might be.  Being trans does not alter the genetic influence of hair growth patters.  And it is much easier to take off than to grow.

I'm pre-T, but still able to grow a fair amount of facial hair - and I have the same problem with a weird gap in my goatee. I've been trying to look for a way to fill it in and haven't come across anything that works yet. I think I'm going to give biotin a go and see what happens.

I'd agree with others in saying A: you're going through puberty just like teenage boys, and B: facial hair is weird period.  I'm over a year on T and still waiting for decent facial hair (its growing in pretty evenly, but too thin to keep it without looking like a 13 year old who's trying to look all grown up)

There is one other option besides biotin, which is Minoxidil (Rogaine)  If you run a search on Google you can find forums with guys that are doing this to help grow facial hair; they discuss methods, results, and side effects.  I haven't tried it myself but I'm keeping it in mind, it seems to be pretty effective.

Thanks guys,

It´s helpful to know that teenage boys basically go through the same process, although I am not sure if this is actual second puberty, because I am not on T and technically that still makes me a dude operating on estrogen.

But my mom (who identifies as a masculine woman) also grew facial hair so it´s probably a genetic thing. The difference is that she had it laser removed and I would rather love it and admire it xD

I´m not sure about my father. He´s bald all over and I have never seen him with a beard (he shaved everything off before anyone could see).

I´m gonna have a look at biotin versus rogaine and see how the pros and cons weigh up against each other.

Hello guys,

I thought I would comment here, even though I am MtF, since I went through puberty and adulthood as a male, and am now spending thousands of dollars to get rid of my facial hair.

Growing up, I always envied those guys whose beards looked like they were drawn on with a MagicMarker. Mine was not. It was somewhat sparse, and there were gaps and bald spots between the whiskers.

It is genetic, and I really can't say is there anything you can do to make your beard grow more evenly. What you can do is shave to highlight what you do have.  Maybe only a moustache looks good, or a goatee, or maybe sideburns. Shave the rest.  What looks good is a handsome jawline, chisled features, bright clear eyes, and a warm, intelligent man behind them.
