'Axis of Awesome' member Jordan Raskopoulos comes out as transgender via suitably awesome video

Fans of Sydney-based musical comedy trio The Axis of Awesome have received a long-awaited update this morning on the status of member Jordan Raskopoulos' beard, which went MIA about a year ago.

Concerned about where the beard had gone and how the band were managing without it, many fans had been posting messages on social media, hoping to hear some good news.

And today, that news arrived. It turns out the beard isn't missing at all. It's been banished. And for a very good reason.

Thank you for posting this.

It's always heartening to hear stories of people in the public spotlight transitioning and carrying on their career as before. Public awareness and acceptance of trans people has profoundly improved over the last decade or so, and this is reflected by the level of support the public at large now gives. Sure, there are haters, but these are a minority group and a dieing breed. I find it personally exciting because it helps give scaredy cats like me the courage, strength of conviction, and healthy level of self-acceptance required to come out and pursue transition.

We live in exciting times!
