So I have been reading everything I can find about transgender as I have finally admitted to myself and come out t my wife, friends and job. I am seeing a counselor and this past Monday started hrt. I am 38and have delt\denied with this for all of my adult life. My wife and I see a counselor together as a step in the process, we are staying together through it all and she is supportive of me and my decision. I have and am going into this with no expectations, I have not had to deal with the depression that most have, none the less I have for all my life had to deal with not feeling right and being ashamed of my body. But I have decided that what ever I get from hrt is what I get. I will or won't pass, it is not the end all for me. I my mind I will always pass just fine as me, and be happier in the end, as I am already.

As an aside ?   In doing my research going into this I found out about Klinefelter syndrome, most all of the symptoms fit my life, and just for peace of mind we had a "t" level test done. My total t was 195 before any hrt, from what I am reading this is very low. Will that affect the process? I can ask my dr next time but that's not for  6 months. Just wondering. I don't really want to spend the $ to have the full kerotype test if it isn't vitle. Thx. And look forward to reading and posting more.

Welcome to Susan's Place. I think you will find that HRT will make a big difference in your life within a few weeks of starting. Blocker further reducing your T levels will allow your brain to function as it should.

The kerotype shouldn't be very expensive but it will solve little other than your curiosity. You will still need to deal with the same issue. I received the test about 40 years ago and in my case, nothing was wrong. I spent my years trying to figure out why I felt the way I did until I gave up on it and just enjoyed life. In the last year I have come to understand why I am the way I am but it's no longer important to me.

While your T is low, it really isn't all that low. It's possible the lower levels will make it easer for you to transition as T may not have damage you as much as some of us. I suspect overall, your T levels shouldn't make much difference.

Feel free to to ask any questions you might have and we will do our best to answer them.

I am hopeful that low t levels mat ease the process a bit. It seem for most of my life people have commented on how feminine my body is. When I started looking into what makes a body masculine it brought up more questions than answers. I have always been told I seem fragle. I am 6'0" and ju now weigh 156 as I quit smoking 5 years ago. Till then I was 130. When I gained te weight I did I got a bit of breasts so to speak.so I was reluctant to exercise as I thought I would loose what little I had, after coming out, so I could look a little more feminine I started some of the exercises I saw online, didn't loose what had grown. One of the questions I have is laser vs electrolysis. About 50% of my facial hair is grey, though I don't and never have had much. Could not ever grow even a mustache. Have heard laser doesn't work on light hair. Also when is it best to start should I wait till hair growth slows on te rest of my body,

I am 6'2" and until I was about 25 I weighed 140 pounds. Eating my own cooking put on about 5 pounds and hormones took me to 163 pounds. I got carless and went up to 203 but I am back to 170 pounds. Until I started estrogen, I had no breast. Even on estrogen, I never developed much. Just luck of the draw.

You would have to have somebody skilled in laser work tell you if your hair would be sensitive but I suspect you are correct. I also couldn't put out much of a beard but my facial hair was thin so I could have more of it without it showing. Laser didn't exist so I went with all electo and as far as when to start, as soon as possible. I took over 200 hours and at a couple of hours a week, it takes a while. HRT will alter body hair but it does little for facial hair. A post somebody made a while back was of a MTF who didn't bother to remove her facial hair. She was extremely attractive but she had a full black beard indicating that HRT had done little to alter beard growth.
