Hey all, I just want to throw my two cents in, so here goes:
I am trangender, but I am also a deeply spiritual, not religious, Christian.
(I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians.. Ghandi)
I live in southern USA and what I have generally seen is that the younger generation Is a lot more accepting of LGBT people and the world in general. The people who give me stares or judge me or act all antichrist christian are usually from a different time. Not saying it is okay by any means. Because as we all know they teach their children that hate, and some steer clear but not all. Places like Westboro Baptist make me sick to my tummy spreading all that hate in the name of God.

The best thing that we can do as a community is educate and tolerate. "Turn the other cheek" and "Ignorance breeds hate" are thing to keep in mind. We all have a small responsibility whether or not we accept it as acting advocates for LGBT.

In your circle of people you know, you may be the only TG/TS/GF person that they know, so aside from all the negative media you will be the example they think of when the topic of LGBT comes up.

Now as we all know, this won't sway everyone. Most people it seems just need a group of people to be their black sheep; they need somebody to hate it seems and so nothing you say or do, no matter how nice and sweet you are, they will always be bitter and cruel and non understanding. And close-minded.  But maybe their kid will see you, or their friend will, or their mother, or..  you get the picture.

We are all celebrities, because once you are out, if you are, you will be a constant example for the entire LGBT community(with the people you know, anyway.

Anywho I love you all, kisses

I was brought up Christian, Christian school, teachers were nuns. I've never seen any hate in person. I wear a cross. The stuff I read online though makes me feel embarrassed.

I will touch a 100 flowers and not pick one.

Christian by choice...

I can't defend many people's version of faith.  I can only defend my own.  But it is to love God with my heart and to love my neighbor as myself.

You are all my neighbors..

Hugs

To move forward is to leave behind that which has become dear. It is a call into the wild, into becoming someone currently unknown to us. For most, it is a call too frightening and too challenging to heed. For some, it is a call to be more than we were capable of being, both now and in the future.

There is always going to be people who will support their point of view because, "God made it that way."    These people used this argument to support the flat earth belief.   The earth is flat because God made it that way.   The earth is the center of the Universe because God made it that way.   When people use the God made it that way argument, it really means that they have no other argument to support their point of view.   If God created the Universe and everything in it, we are all the way we are because God made us this way.

God is Unknowable and none of us knows the Mind of God.    The people who argue God made it that way are either ignorant, a bigot or both.
Be true to yourself.  The future will reveal itself in its own due time.    Find the calm at the heart of the storm.    I own my womanhood.

I am a 69-year-old transsexual school teacher grandma & lady.   Ethnically I am half Irish  and half Scandinavian.   I can be a real bitch or quite loving and caring.  I have never taken any hormones or had surgery, I am out 24/7/365.

^^^Powerful words by Kristen.

I don't blame the Bible, God or Jesus for the ignorance and misunderstandings of so-called Christians. No. Only they are in control of their actions and thoughts. Jesus has nothing to do with why alot of them treat us like pigs. They are the ones who blame Jesus for their actions and thoughts by saying BS things like, "Cause the Bible say a man should wear what pertains to a man and a woman should wear what pertains to a woman."

I guess everyone is in trouble if Christians honestly believe in The Ten Commandments. I don't care how "holy" you are, if we cannot ever hope to achieve that 100 percent perfection that Jesus lived, then that means everyone has broken quite a few of them, especially the lying. Though I do admit that traditional religion has a way of setting very good rules that help keep people in check, even if Christians take it way out the park sometimes.

Sheesh. If they truly believe that crap about men and women wearing appropriate clothing, why don't all churches prohibit women from wearing pants? God forbid if a biological male walks in there with a dress on....The torturous childhood church I was raised in forced me to wear dresses and skirts even outside of the church at home during the winter. My only protection from the shivering cold for my tender legs were freakin' stockings, man. I became the laughing stock of the whole school. Not that I cared much because I already was the butt end of the joke prior to this silly No-Pants For "Girs/Women" stint.-.-
