June will mark 2 years since I had double Incision. My surgeon was great and the results are fantastic but I do still have fairly thick, dark scars at the incision lines. Partly because I stretched too much too soon. How long did it take other guys to see significant improvement in their scar appearance? Also, I have brown skin so there could be a difference there. Its almost Beach season again and I want to go topless!

Heck, I'd like to know as well.

I had my top surgery done in August 2013 and I still have very visible DI scars. I wouldn't mind if they were white but noooo, they're fricking red. Nicely visible on your standard north European skin. |D

did you guys do scar treatment when you were a few months post op? i used kelocote when i was a few months post op and my scars arent that visible now. on the package it says you can use it even for a few years old scars (i think) so i would look into that.

My scars are very visible, but I have noticing some lightening from last year to this year. I have not used any kind of scar treatment. They've gone from a red to a bright pink (for the most part - there are some sections that are a light pink and others that are basically purple). This is pretty much how other scars on my body have gone though, and they eventually faded to white. I'm hoping that's how it'll even out in a few years.

Just go topless anyway :) Apply lots of sunscreen, and make sure you're reapplying every few hours. I went swimming for the first time shirtless in July last year (surgery was end of April). As long as you've got sunscreen on, you should be fine.

I'm going to see about having them cut down and tattooed a bit. I'm self conscious about them. Not because people may connect it to me being trans but because well, who wants scars ya know?

My scars don't bug me, the placement is nice. I have been using Maderma gel and I noticed the scars diminishing from one day to the next. I'm 6 months post op and wouldn't be surprised if they faded in about 3-5 years. Again I'm fine with scars. I avoided vitamin e because I've heard several people say that they made their scars stretch.

I second trying kelocote. I've been using it and also massaging the scars with Vaseline since surgery a year ago. My scars are still slightly reddish pink around the edges but have mostly faded to white and are pretty thin.

I was reading up on scar care before surgery and found that it's recommended to massage the scars through the healing process. I really think it made a difference, both in the thinness and flatness of the scars. Don't get me wrong, they're still visible, but definitely not bad.
