If a Man With a Vagina Can Be Just as Masculine as One With a Penis, Then Just Watch the Patriarchy Crumble

The Huffington Post/By Daniel Lyons     02/19/2016 03:59 pm ET

"In the wake of a formative year for transgender communities, where there has been much celebration for those who have chosen to transition publicly, there seems to be little discussion about people like Becca Blackwell, a trans actor who post-transition does not conform to the gender binary that our society is comfortable with. Blackwell sat down with me to talk about how the circus saved her life, the nuances of constructing masculinity, and her upcoming solo show based on a Corey Haim PR stunt that confronts the discomfort that comes with using they as a gender pronoun."

" It's not like they're all 60-year-old white men that are like, what? A Dyke! And she's not hot by my standards!? Which is why people like that have always had a problem with people like me, because if I am perceived as a man, then what is the value of a man? If a man with a vagina can be just as strong and masculine as one with a penis, then just watch the patriarchy crumble. That's something thats really hard for people raised with those ideals to come to terms with."

I liked this part, that explains the article title - it reminded me of a comment i saw from a cis man once on a video about 'having short hair and a fake penis makes you a man huh' - ya, as opposed to that penis that you earned through being a True Manly Man and doing Truly Manly Things and totally didn't just grow in utero before you'd even pooped yourself yet

Edit:quote missing words was out of context.

One of the top reasons I want to be a male is to have a penis. I have no sexuality at all because I have been traumatized all my life by having female organs. I think I'll have sexuality as a male because I'll feel comfortable in my own skin.

This blog needs some serious editing. It is hard enough to read, much less a partial quote.
