I would agree with, amberwaves. I have been through two laser sessions on my face and neck now, and, while slightly uncomfortable in the denser areas, I wouldn't call it painful. I go to Dr. Tattoff (company name) in California and have had nothing but positive experiences and results. Personally, compared to laser tattoo removal, laser hair removal feels like butterfly kisses. That said, I am still pre-HRT, perhaps that has something to do with it.

People experience pain differently. Laser technology is different at different laser places.

The laser place I used had a Candela Gentlemax laser which combines two different lasers. It also has the cool mist feature after the zap which really helps. I was pretty happy with what they did and it didn't hurt that much. I had a lidocane/benzocane/tetracane cream mixed up by a compounding pharmacy that numbed my face and lessened the pain. My face just felt a little stingy/sunburned afterward - it was actually kind of a refreshing feeling.

The hair started to come back after 18 months and it was mostly white/gray hairs, so I switched to electrolysis.

Electrolysis for me is a completely different sensation. I still use the numbing cream but WHOA! after an hour of getting zapped i'm gripping the edges of the table with white knuckles and i'm ready for it to END!!!! After the session I have a few whelps and some tiny little pinpoint scabs that take a week to heal.

I'm not really looking forward to the next 100+ hours of electro :-\
