New TSA Rule Bad News for Trans People, Says Task Force

http://www.advocate.com/transgender/2016/3/04/new-tsa-rule-bad-news-trans-people-says-task-force

The Advocate/By Trudy Ring March 04 2016 8:36 PM EST

"The U.S. Transportation Security Administration has finalized a new rule that the National LGBTQ Task Force says "codifies discrimination against transgender people."

Under the rule, the TSA will make widespread use of body-scanning technology that requires TSA agents in airports to identify passengers by their perceived gender, choosing a pink or a blue button, according to a press release sent by the Task Force Friday afternoon. This means that transgender and gender-nonconforming people will often be subject to intrusive examinations, such as pat-downs and inspection of their chests and genital areas. These scanners are already in use at many locations."

At least I don't have the money to fly anywhere or any reason to.

Great - more groping and more attitude in our future.

The TSA drones are intrusive anyway. And stupid. If I can't board a flight because I'm carrying a pair of nail clippers or a hairpin, then why would they bring you beer in a can, glass, or bottle that can easily become more dangerous than half the crap they ban on their flights? I think they just get a kick out of humiliating people, so this is no shock to me that they'd do such a thing. In fact, I'm surprised public strip searches aren't part of their repertoire.
Am I male? Am I female? I'm just me.

So the big question is... do you feel safer? I would say an unqualified no. All of this security is costly and worthless.
