So I'm finally starting T and much sooner than I expected which is awesome. I requested a low dose though so I the changes will come slower since I have to be cautious with my family for a while and for other reasons.

I was just wondering, for you guys who started with a lower dose of T (if there are any here), what were your changes like, what kind of changes did you see first? I know everyone is different but I thought it would be interesting to see what other peoples' experiences are since I haven't seen much about guys who have opted to start out slower like I did.

Hey! I started T on a lower dose and still keep that dose to this day. Congrats btw! The first changes I noticed were downstairs stuff, hair, and more energy, also no period. I'm 7 months in and am only now starting to get minimal facial hair. I thought my voice changed fast but I think everyone does on T when really, it took awhile. imo, the changes on low dose are manageable for at least a few months. but everyone is different. Lower doses keep it slow and steady.

I started on a half dose and had just as many changes as guys on a full dose. I think it really depends on your body/chemistry and how well you respond to it. I stayed on it for a month before switching to a full dose, and in that time I had some downstairs growth, body hair started filling in, shark week changed (but didn't stop completely), and my voice dropped once.

Uncommon, and probably not true for anyone else: No changes in appetite. Sex drive went down.

I did a half dose for my first month and saw bottom growth, an increased sex drive, voice change (not noticeable in my speaking but I could no longer sing as high as I could before), and increased appetite--pretty much what most guys on a normal dose experience.  I didn't stay on that dose, though, so I can't tell you beyond that!

my endo started me on a low dose. i was on that for about 6 months. within that 6 months i noticed my voice dropped within 3 months, my period stopped within 2? months, and i had some downstairs growth. i also started to get facial hair on my chin, etc. but it didn't really kick in until about a year on T, same with my body hair (although i already have dark hair and a lot of it, about a year and a bit is when i really noticed it changing). i'm still not on what people consider a "full" dose and that is because my endo says i'm already in the male range.

I am on a low dose (in my opinion). I'm still on the same dose a year later. Since my levels are in the 600 range and my ovaries aren't producing e I decided to stick with this dose until it needs tweeking. I felt downstairs changes 6 hours after my shot and increased drastically in the first week. Voice changes also started by week 2. I'm 1y 3m on t. Facial hair is increasing, its black but not coarse. My father and grandfather don't have much facial hair and I'm alright about it. I look like my father's twin. Not kidding. So I knew that when I went on t what my changes would look like. I had all the other similar changes like muscle growth, increased drive, less anxiety. I'm a lot happier.

What about facial features becoming more masculine? Has that happened yet?

That would be fat redistribution, and it is typically one of the later changes that people experience. In the face it tends to be a subtler change, and people often see a bit of bloating and water retention in the face during the first few years.

So my face will look fat?

For a bit, yes most likely. It doesn't happen to everyone, but it happens often enough that it's worth mentioning.

Someday I'm definitely getting some jaw, chin and cheekbone work.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I'm pretty excited about the changes even though they'll happen a bit slower for me. I'm actually going later today with my girlfriend to get my first shot so the doctor can teach me how to do it. There were a lot of times I didn't think I would make it to this point for one reason or another so it feels great to even be writing this post. I'm already thinking of how I can swing top surgery now, haha.

Good luck man! Treat yourself to something nice after your shot :) My roommate went with me when I switched from gel to injections and we got pizza and gelato afterwards.
