My fiancee, who is now just four weeks and six days away from her surgery, used Dr Webberly for just under a year while she was waiting for CXH to give her an appointment.
I have no personal knowledge of Dr Webberly, but I am a fourth year medical student and from what I can see everything was done correctly. As I understand it, The Dr is a genuine GP who has setup a bridging hormone service for those who are expriencing extreme physical dysphoria.
As for whether you should use her, obviously I cant make any recomendations either way, mainly because of my own future position, but as far as I can see, yes it is a legitimate service.
One further point I will add, with sadness. Last week I had the privilege as part of my medical training, to sit in on a clinic at CXH. I found the doctors there to be charming and genuinely caring, but battling against almost insurmountable odds in terms of under-resourcing in a cash strapped NHS, where provision of services for patients like you is poorly funded, to say the least.
My fiancee was on a waiting list for her first CXH appointment when I met her. Now just over a year later, having had me pay her private fees she is just over one month from being postop. She never signed off from the CXH waiting list but we have never received an appointment. It may be that when we went privately her GP withdrew the referral of course, but I think this does emphasise that there can be considerable waits involved in the NHS service, and from what I have seen this is NOT because the doctors are being slow, but simply because there simply isnt enough resource to go around.
Personally, if you can find a way to afford it, I would seriously consider the self funded route. If not, then please do be patient and try to remember its isnt the doctors that are holding you up, its the ruddy bean counters and political paymasters.
